We stayed at the Blue Bay Hotel in May as part of a walking trip on the Southwest Coast Path. The hotel had the feel of a bed and breakfast, which was a plus. James and Pippa were welcoming and accommodating. There is a common gathering room and patio space for relaxing. The bedrooms varied based on their location in the house or in an outside patio room. Our room was lovely with a great view to the ocean and a private bathroom. Our friends who stayed in the patio rooms didn't have enough temperature control and were cold.

In addition to a traditional full English breakfast, they offer dinner with a varied and reasonable menu. Whether you stay here or not, come for dinner. It's lovely!

Arrived frazzed by poor google directionsand unclear directions from the lodges for a short break feeling somewhat tired, irritable and suspicious. Behold James with his fairtrade real coffee on the deck. Blue Bay must be the best kept secret in Britain! Friendly, outgoing hosts, fabulous food from chef Jamesand I mean fabulous! with good range of wines to choose from,a bar, lounge area and constant view over the sea. Absolutely silent at night in Sandpiper. Room fresh and clean. Couldn't do enough to help. Left us in charge of the wine in the fridge. We are so going back, have never had the urge to return to the same hotel before. Don't be tempted to eat anywhere else, it's all here... literally on your doorstep!

Blue Bay Lodge is a superb place to stay and I would highly recommend it. We stayed in Beachcomber, a big apartment with super views of Mawgan Porth beach, the sea and the valley. There's a terrace to boot with sunset views! Clean, comfortable, very friendly and a real bargain. 5 mins walk from the beach, which is one of Cornwall's best for surfing. 10min drive from Newquay - perfect.

I would highly recommend the Blue Bay B&B. My partner and I stayed for two nights in May 2010. We usually stay in brand hotels for certainty of quality and as we are gay couple, we did wonder if the welcome would be any different to brand hotels, which usually have strict equality policies, as the Blue Bay is in a very rural (and presumably 'traditional') part of the country. We were pleasantly surprised in many ways. The location is absolutely first class - beautiful view and minutes away from three beaches. The room was a very good size and completely spotless, with everything you need and more. The breakfast was an excellent buffet with very good quality additional menu options - all fresh local produce. The owners are a couple, Pippa and James. Pippa could not have been more welcoming, sociable and helpful, and was trusting enough to tell us to help ourselves to the drinks fridge behind the bar. She was delightful. James is pleasant but we both wondered whether he was completely comfortable having a gay couple staying. Pippa is clearly a well-travelled woman of the world who has probably seen everything, so surely James is presumably similarly open-minded - ? Am sure it was just us being a bit paranoid. Altogether we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definately use the same place when we go back, which I'm sure we will.

We have been going to Blue Bay Hotel for quite a few years - always coming away wanting to return for another holiday. Every time we visit (usually twice a year), something has been improved. Decorated, new curtains, etc. Lovely and clean. Very welcoming hosts and you are made to feel really special. Nothing too much trouble.
The weather is usually kind as well. In easy reach of Padstow and lovely beaches all around.

I spent one week at the Blue Bay hotel. I took surf lessons with Kingsurf (perfect !).

The Blue Bay hotel is a quiet B&B in a green and beautiful countryside (dinner was not available so I went to the Falcon inn, 45 minutes away by walk but worth it). The village of Mawgan Porth is still unspoilt (not like Newquay).

The B&B is comfortable and friendly : it is run by a hard working couple fond of travels. Breakfast is very good and the choice is great. The family spirit can be touched. Wifi is free. The price is very low for the relaxation you can enjoy.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Blue Bay last weekend, and we stayed last May too with no problems. It is situated overlooking Mawgan Porth Beach (10 min walk down and 20 mins back if you are unfit like me!!), with a cracking view whilst you eat Breakfast. They accept Dogs in some rooms - we had a garden type room with a table & chairs on the decking right outside the door - easy access for the dog and good for sitting out with a Coffee. Pippa and James are great hosts, and the Breakfasts were fantastic! A small negative point (sorry!) is the DIY in the Bathroom and the quality of Bedroom Furniture in the room we stayed in. I would definitely recommend the Blue Bay to friends, in fact some of our wedding guests are staying here in June. It is good value for money, a very relaxed place to stay - thoroughly enjoyable!!
