“Lovely place, but don't arrive after dark!”

My husband and I arrived on Saturday night after a six hour drive from Kent following a family wedding, arriving around midnight. The google map and website information on finding the house was hopelessly inadequate, made worse by the appalling state of the access lane which had been churned up by recent building works nearby. The house sign for Blue Seas is on the pedestrian access to the garden, invisible in the dark, but there was no signage pointing down the rough track for vehicles to the main house. We spent three hours in the vicinity before finding it on foot with a torch!

When the next day came, we could appreciate how lovely the house is, despite very steep stairs to the three sleeping areas upstairs. Thank goodness for the baby gates, as my daughter and husband with three children of 6, 4 and 2 arrived the next day. Plenty of room for families, extensive private garden, and easy access to the beach and coast path. A bit of a walk to cafes and shops. Maybe easier with slightly older children than ours.

“Please can we stay a bit longer.”
Reviewed 1 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Excellent rental. Plenty of space, first class views of the beach and sea. Sleeps 9 but only 4 + small dog for this stay. Stairs to 1st floor poor but a big redesign is due at the end of season that will fix this and modify the 1st floor. We would love to go back. The owners are great, we met them during our week. The garden is large and beautiful but not secure so consider this for dogs and children. It was no issue for our dog, she loved it, especially the rabbits living under the shed, she still dreams about them. Beach is just a couple of minutes away via a gate at the bottom of the garden the track is a bit rough and steep though. If the tide is in you will have to go a little further along the coast path to drop onto the sand. We had great weather so had most meals outside on the main patio looking at the views. Elton John was in the hotel just up the road while we were there but we did not see him. Loads of friendly people on the beach which is dog friendly all year round.

“A perfect Cornish retreat”
Reviewed 26 June 2015 for a stay in November 2014

This is a fantastic property, ticking all the boxes, but primarily it's perfect location. We have booked to go back in the summer.

The property is really well equipped and spacious, important for the rainy days! It comfortably accommodates two families - we had our two young boys and some friends with their kids - it all worked really well.

Highly recommended

“Great house shame about the road to the property”
Reviewed 22 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We have just stayed at Blue Seas for a week, and this house is fabulous. Everything has been thought out what people might need its very impressive. The house is big with loads of room and different doors to close different areas off.
A big balcony with new looking patio furniture.
There is steep stairs to get to upstairs to the bedrooms and upstairs little seating area, so that might not be practical for some, but you can stay downstairs.
The garden is on a hill, and if you want to go to the beach you go down the garden out the gate up the road a little and down the hill and steps to the lovely dog friendly beach. It makes you puff a bit for the not fit to get back up but it's only a five minute walk to get down so its soon over.
It is very peacefull here, you dont very often hear cars and you can sit out on the balcony and you hear birds chirping not traffic its so relaxing.
HOWEVER.. the private road down to the cottage is very poor, it is in serious need of repair, and I wouldn't want to take our car there until this has been done. It has huge pot holes in places, resembling a pot holed building site, in places but you have to go by all this to get to the cottage. We did get a puncture and our car tyre off the rim and that was driving slowly and so carefully, and small damage to the underneath. This is why you have got to be very careful and take this into consideration. It is advertised on Cornwall cottages as rough in places but it is worst in our opinion of the word 'rough'. But as we are thinking of the holiday maker we think you should know this before you book.
It maybe as there has been building work going on building new properties that the road has got damaged worst by that.
But by all means its your decision on whether to take the chance if for example you have a really good car.

We had a lovely walk along the beach every morning to the paper shop.

Management Response
29 Jun 2015
We are delighted to hear that you had such an enjoyable time at Blue Seas and liked the peaceful location and beach. The road is owned by the Duchy of Cornwall and unfortunately has not been well maintained recently. However the local residents are actively working on a scheme to sort this problem out so visitors should not have to suffer bumpy roads much longer!

“So fabulous I want to keep this gem all to myself!”
Reviewed 23 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

The property is large and spacious and it's layout also gives space for quiet time too especially if you are part of a large group.
Furnishings and fittings are of a high standard so this makes for a very comfortable stay.
Being dog friendly there is an attention to detail that is often overlooked at other places and it is my impression that a lot of thought has gone into making a stay here very special.
If you like plants then there is a huge variety to look at in the surrounding garden and the view through the trees is spectacular as it looks down onto the bay.
The walk to the beach is steep but manageable.
We were a party of six and all of agree that we want to return again.
Thank you for the opportunity to stay here.

“The perfect beach retreat”
Reviewed 23 March 2015 for a stay in March 2015

This really is a fabulous holiday property. It is clean, spacious and full of character.

The views from the bedrooms and terrace are truly spectacular and with such a short walk to the beach, you really couldn't wish for a better position.

There are some good restaurants nearby, but with this fully equipped home, eating in and enjoying the relaxing surroundings and stunning views is a must.

Thoroughly recommended, and we will be booking again for sure.
