We called in and booked whilst walking by on our stay in Mevagissey. The town is not sprinkled with good places to eat, lots of fried food and pasties. This is a gem. The restaurant is run by a husband and wife team who work very hard.
On arrival we ere shown in and immediately given a jug of tapwater. Our menus were brought and a wine list. We always try and but local produce so we ordered a bottle of Cornish wine. The proprietor was honest enough to say that it is not to everyone's taste and offered a sample. I have to admit that I tried but did not like it. We therefore fell back on mearsault which was excellent and reasonably priced.
This is a fish restaurant and fish is in plentiful supply on the menu. Despite this my dining companions were tempted by baked brie. I had the hot carb which was fantastic. Scallops were wonderful and so was sole. Fresh and well cooked. My fellow diners had meringue and cream not Eton mess which they said was really good.
Overall we had a very pleasant evening, good ambience, good service, good food and all at a reasonable price.
