“Friendly, relaxed and best value in town - made our trip to Meva!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2014

Myself and my partner visited Mevagissey in July this year (2014). This charming Cornwall coastal town has an array of eateries. Looking for a late lunch, we looked at several cafes/ restaurants but so many were just that little bit pricey for what we were looking for. We'd spotted "Blue" as we'd strolled around earlier so headed back and to our delight saw a comprehensive menu that was very reasonably priced, in a spotless looking interior that had a number of customers there already but wasn't over crowded so decided to give it a go.

The lady who seated us was smiling and friendly (despite, as we learned later, a late night opening the previous night due to the festival that had taken place in the town!) which made the right first impression. We enjoyed beautiful fresh crab meat crusty rolls, with salad and fries and some wonderful cakes followed by the best coffee we'd tasted on the holidays!

As it was late afternoon by the time we'd finished our mains and were waiting for our cake and coffee we got chatting with another customer and had some great laughs with both the customer and the lady (owner I think) who served us.

What made the occasion for us though was her kindness. She acted the "good coffee Samaritan" and helped us out of a jam seeing it was a Sunday and early closing for the large supermarkets around.

With the good food and charming company we cannot recommend Blue enough. Good food, good value and good people!

If you get to see this ladies, thank you so much!

“A special feeling”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 July 2014

Small restaurant with a nice familiar feeling. The grilled mixed plate was a lot of food but required more taste and spices. The seafood plate was good.

“Cracking crab!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2014

We had the crab mornay which was lovely. The fresh salad with it was very good and the pea shoots were a lovely change from a bit of cress! We really enjoyed it but the place lacked any atmosphere and we weren't made to feel welcome at all by the person serving. In fact when I paid she was complaining to another customer that she hadn't had time to do her ordering as was too busy. This was because she had to come back downstairs from the office to complete a credit card payment for me as her other staff member "can't do credit cards!" I felt we were a bit of an inconvenience really. Shame as the food was good but don't expect a warm welcome!

“Nice meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2014

We had a nice meal at the Blue Bistro, lots of fish dishes on the specials board, friendly staff my husbands beef casserole was excellent but my crab mornay was a bit watery with not enough cheese topping, although there was plenty of crab.
