what a lovely week we had in mevagissey, staying in tregoney house bed and breakfast. the hosts, lee and diane, couldnt have done more to make us all feel welcome, and the breakfasts were to die for!! they both treated us and our 17month old son like part of the family! our room was spotless, and the en suite bathroom was a perfect size. the whole house is decorated to a very high standard, and is homely and warm. mevagissey itself is a very beautiful villlage, with the harbour only a short walk from the b&b, just at the end of the road, we loved the restraunts and pubs and found the food everywhere was delicious, at affordable prices. everywhere is child friendly, offering highchairs and large childrens menu options in every eating establishment. we would highly recommend a stay at tregoney house to anyone thinking of going, and while youre there a trip to gorran haven beach is definatly a must!!!!!!

Let into this house by Jack, presumably the owners' son, who took us up to our room. He was very pleasant but didnt show us any other part of the building, just said the owners were not there and if we wanted anything to go to the Sharksfin restaurant in the village. He also told us that a lady would be in next morning to cook breakfast. Never saw Jack again. So, the smallest, coldest, twin room I have ever been in, with a tiny cold bathroom. My partner, who is under 6ft, had to crouch to use the shower. Also, smallest-ever TV on the wall, didnt bother with this as would have had to sit together on one bed to see. It was freezing cold and we had to leave the portable heater on all night. Every time we came out of our room the dogs downstairs barked like mad, they must have been locked away somewhere. Felt like calling the RSPCA. Next morning found the breakfast room and a very nice young lady, not a member of the family, cooked for us and told us that the owners were in GREECE!! We were disgusted, we had read about the warm welcome and friendly hosts and we were on our own!! Although we were booked for 4 nights, there was no way we were going to pay £60 per night to be totally on our own - except for barking dogs. Even if the owners had been there this price is way over the top. Have been to Cornwall many times and this was the second visit this year - wish we had gone back to the friendly people who ran the b&b in Helston. When you are in someone's home you expect to have people to chat with. When I initially contacted Diane Young I wonder why she didnt tell me she would be away?? There was a Vacancies sign on the building - surely this should have said No Vacancy!!
