What a find! Gorgeous, elegant hotel in the most stunning location. We had such a pretty room, with everything you could need inside, but if what you needed was not in your room, you just ask and the lovely staff will get it for you, nothing is too much trouble. All of the staff are out to please. We are only sorry we only managed to eat at breakfast time as we were there for an organised function nearby, the menu looked so appetising, breakfast though, was superb. Lovely bed and pillows, we cannot wait to come back!

Room Tip: We had room 4, the view was breathtaking.

Stayed in room 11 which is advertised as the master bedroom in the original house, the size of the room was great with a seating area to look out to the sea, king size bed with a comfy mattress. The room had a DVD player and CD player which was really useful to sit and enjoy the views with your favourite tracks playing in the background. The room was spotless, the bathroom was lovely a really deep large bath with a walk in shower, plenty of room and light, also had a hairdryer which was a bit slow but useful. The staff were friendly. The breakfast was very nice obviously cooked fresh, there was also cereal and juices available. Service was very slow took about 15 minutes before anyone came to take our order but once it arrived it was lovely. The location overlooking the sea and gardens are very nice however the hotel is about 10 minute walk into Mevagissey which was ok going downhill but would have been an almighty climb back up, we managed to get a taxi after having a few drinks and a meal in the village, but there is only one taxi for Mevagissey and he gets booked up really quickly, but he was really friendly and helpful and it cost us £3.50 for the ride home. The hotel has a car park which again very useful. would i stay there again, yes if i was visiting Mevagissey, would i go back to Mevagissey - probably not, as lovely as it was there was nothing really there.

Room Tip: room 11 - great size and great views

If you are looking for fine dining then forget the restaurants on the sea front or back streets and head for this sea view situated hotel. The food is quite simply up there with the best of them. The judges from Master Chef would be delighted with the imagination and creativity of Adam the head chef. Service sadly didn't quite reflect the high quality of the food but I would suggest it is easier finding a good waitress rather than finding a great chef! Thank you Adam.

Have stayed for a week in the hotel.
I'd like to emphasize next:
1. Very friendy and enthusiastic team.
2. The see view was really panoramic from our window on the 1st floor.
3. In two minutes to go below the hotel there is the impressive big beach, which is completely empty usually.
4. The room was very comfortable for staying for two.
5. Majority of guests were mature couples from UK.
6. English breakfast is good and it is included, it is not so fast serving, but as i understand it is a feature, but not a bug, the breakfast in the hotel is some kind of social event :) .
7. Location is optimal from Mevagisse centre and its harbor.
It is about 5 minutes to go. There are two ways to go - along the road, and by the coastal footpath. At the same time it is far from noisy centre and embankment.
8. There is big parking around the hotel. For Mevagisse it is great advantage as parking is not allowed almost everywhere.
9. Public Bus can be stopped just near the hotel.
10. It is old building but in very good condition. There is perfect sitting room with live fireplace, etc.
11. And of course the south coast of Kernow is a brilliant place. The everiday walking by the coast line footpath was memorable.

So it is wonderful family hotel with very great level of everything. It is claimed as *** hotel only, but in fact my feelings were as these *** must be doubled.

As some minor lacks i'd like to note:
1. Personally for me and my wife the bed was increadably soft.
2. One feature of the old building is not so high sound-absorption.

Room Tip: I recommend to get rooms on the 1st floor with the see views.

Having just spent 6 nights (13-19th Sept) at this excellent Hotel I must refute the recent critical reviews of the single ground floor room, the staff and the attitude of the owners.
I received from my stay everything I required by stating my needs, all were met courteously.
Anything I needed, and I did, i.e. a light bulb replaced, bedside reading light, room vacuumed in the afternoon, was seen to at once and with good grace.
I booked my holiday to suit my requirements, a small, flexible, family run business with local staff and an acceptance of dogs. My privacy was respected, although alone I was not lonely, all the staff were friendly and the other guests inclusive to me.
Room 14 on the ground floor has a lovely stone mullioned door to the sea- facing patio. It has a good functioning shower, a large working radiator and extra blankets provided. The dog & I could come & go for our walks without disturbing others and Sue the owner who has a small dog of her own was understanding and kind.

On Saturday night I was joined by three family members for a celebration meal, an Engagement and a Birthday. John was an exemplary host to us and he and his staff made it a perfect and memorable occasion.
The walks, beach, swimming super. A word of warning, if dog gets spooked halfway down the steps remember you will have to carry it back up, I did, very slowly!
Give it a try, I hope I shall be staying there again.

Room Tip: Room 14 a single, perfect for a dog.

Spent three very pleasant nights here recently. Ate in on two nights, the food was excellent. Our room was clean and the bed comfortable the only two downsides were the smell from the kitchen in the evening and no cold water in the shower over the bath making it unusable. The staff were all friendly and helpful and we would recommend the hotel and stay again if in the area.

Room Tip: ask for one away from the kitchen if possible

We have just got back from a great stay in Mevagissey. The Hotel was very clean and the staff were very attentive. The breakfasts were the usual choice but very well cooked. It was maybe a little pricey compared to other hotels we have stayed in in the area, but we really enjoyed our time there.
