“The Tremane restored our faith in UK hotels”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 October 2009

On our Uk holiday we had a bad run with hotels leaving a bad experience in Bath we got stuck on the motorway for seven hours. Mevagissey was heaving with tourists. We arrived a little short of enthusiasm for life to a greeting like I have never had from Michael Fitz and Norman. If these guys could duplicate themselves and their hotel, they would be the best value for money chain around. tea on the terrace restored our humour and the view from our room at the front our spirit. I have never felt so instantly welcome ever..

The room is not monstrous ( but is only a two star) but it was beautifully decorated and the bathroom was very new and very functional again a little small but OMG fabulous. Breakfast was great and I liked the little 'pub' for s drink before dinner. Dinner was quite good but wouldn't eat in every night next time. All in all just a fabulous friendly little hotel.

Spent 4 days here with my partner and our friends (on their recommendation). Having travelled from the Canary Islands we were impressed that the hotel also offered stunning weather. We were greeted on arrival by the hosts Michael and Fitz who welcomed us as if we were family. This attitude was maintained throughout our stay. Neither my partner nor I have ever stayed in a more professional, yet friendly establishment. There was not a single element throughout our stay that we could fault. The star rating of The Tremarne Hotel is considerably understated as the customer service they provide would easily grace a 4 star hotel.

The greatest asset this hotel possesses are the staff, Michael, Fitz, Norman, Ruth,Sharon and both their chefs (whose names, unfortunately, I have forgotten).

On a personal note, at 60 years plus, I have never experienced such a welcoming and friendly environment. Cornwall being a county of superlatives, is lucky to have a hotel of such a standard.

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

The room was bright, comfortable and clean, both breakfast and the evening meals were excellent and Mevagissey and the surrounding area are well worth a visit.

This is only part of the Tremarne story though. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel valued and welcome and you were left with a genuine feeling that nothing was too much trouble. Of note were Norman, who ensured the bar area was friendly and relaxed, and Fitz who is probably one of the best hosts I have encountered. Typical of the family atmosphere there was the treatment of a couple of guests celebrating their 49th wedding anniversary during their stay. Balloons at their table and a home-made cake were presented as a surprise with no thought of additional cost.

Negatives at the Tremarne are hard to find. I suppose the walk to Mevagissey may be a little steep for some and thankfully their taste in food far exceeds their taste in music (please … retire the Julio Iglesias CD!!).

In short, the efforts of the staff ensured that our short break far exceeded expectations and we shall look forward to returning at the earliest opportunity.

We have stayed at this hotel for the past 3 years and each time is as good as the last, if not even better. Everyone is friendly and only have your best interests for a good, restful holiday in mind. The chefs prepare fresh local food everyday and the meals are absolute heaven, well presented and cooked to perfection. The rooms are well presented and kept immaculate. All the staff from Michael and Fitz down through Norman the ever smiling, to Ruth and Sharon who nothing is too much trouble for. We have had a very stressful year this year and have come back with renewed vigour and zest and very relaxed. I would recommend this Hotel and location to anyone who just needs to get away from everyday life and the world in general because it is definitely out of this world.

We stayed three nights in a standard room and couldn't have asked for more at the price we paid - considerably cheaper than many similar looking hotels in the region. The room was clean, breakfast was nice, the staff were friendly and there were enough parking spaces. The room might have got a little cramped if we had been there much longer but it was perfectly acceptable.

The local village was nice too, far nicer than St Austell. Judes restaurant on the harbour was excellent.

I've just returned from a fabulous weekend's stay at the Tremarne Hotel. My parents go there every year and I now understand why.

The hotel is just beautiful, set in a wonderful location. The rooms were immaculate and decorated to a very high standard. The meals were outstanding, I couldn't believe they only have 2 stars, the food you would expect from at least a 4 star hotel or a top London restaurant.

The owners and the staff are what really makes this hotel for me though. Very warm and friendly, make you feel at home, like you're part of their family. Fitz, one of the owners was always on hand and involved in the day to day service of the hotel, be it serving breakfast or just making sure your stay was as comfortable as possible. I didn't get to meet Michael, but am looking forward to doing so next year. I'm definitely going back.

I highly, highly recommend this hotel. Please go and stay there you will not be disappointed and like me will be looking forward to returning time and again.
