“Couldn't have been better”
Reviewed 8 April 2010

It's taken me a long time to get around to writing this review but we had such a lovely time that it's better late than never!
The room (Sarah and David's own) was lovely with views out across the bay, and the breakfasts were good too. The best thing about our stay was Sarah; she is a born hostess with an easy, friendly way of making her guests feel really welcome and relaxed. Her local knowledge was absolutely invaluable. We followed her suggestions for walks/restaurants/whole days out and were always delighted to have done things that we may not have discovered on our own.

We stayed 7 nights at Cauce Head and had a wonderful time. Very convenient for walks to Lizard Point - and in the other direction from Predannack - to Mullion Cove and beyond. Very convenient location for all of our explorations.
Sarah and David are a lovely couple and made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Real home-from-home hospitality. Lots of little extras and nothing was too much trouble. We will be back!

Considering we left it until less than a week before our trip to cornwall we got so incredibly lucky in booking at the Caunce Head.

For the price the room was a wonderful surprise, spotlessly clean and well presented striking a perfect balance between classic and modern. The welcome was warm and the breakfasts were incredible, plus we feel we got quite lucky as the area was much nicer than all the towns we had driven through as well as being a good place from which to start any explorations. Much quieter and less tacky than the western coast of cornwall we had an absolutely fantastic long weekend here and I would strongly recommend the Caunce Head to anyone visiting cornwall.

We spent a week at Caunce Head. Athough we picked it completely
"blind" over the internet exept for the one existing review, we could
not have chosen better! Jan and Russ are the perfect hosts, they made us welcome from the start.
The atmosphere at the breakfast table was always very
relaxed and on our first day when we chose coffee as our drink
we were given a multi choice of methods, strength and type, the
same applied to tea.
The choice of the meal - scrambled egg with salmon: Kippers: full English Breakfast "one egg or two", bacon, mushrooms, fried bread (fried in olive oil), and tomatoes.
Our room was excellent, with lovely white towels and bath robes
in the bathroom, all the little extras that one finds in a good hotel plus sachets of Aloe Vera gel and cream, Even a sachet of tooth paste!
Jan and Russ have obviously put a lot of thought into the whole
thing including the homely decor etc. and it all works wonderfully well, thanks to their hard work.

What a find! A wonderful 17th Century Cornish stone house situated high on and set back from the cliff tops at Mullion and with easy access to the footpaths. With only two unique, cosy bedrooms there is a feeling of days gone by (with all the mod cons!). We stayed in the Mount View room which was an absolute delight. We couldn't fault it from the comfortable four poster bed, the window seat with views of Mount Bay, the cosy bathroom with corner bath and shower and not forgetting the many extra thoughtful touches that you normally don't find elsewhere but which makes this place special.

The Aga cooked breakfast was wonderful with a choice from the full English to Haddock or Kippers. We settled for the fish and were not disappointed.

Jan and Russ are thoughtful hosts and nothing is too much trouble. We only stayed for one night but wished it had been longer. If you are looking for somewhere to unwind with excellent accommodation but without staying in a hotel, you really cannot go wrong. We'll be back.
