Decided to try out this restaurant after having an excellent meal at Sams in the City.
A small and simply decorated restaurant in an old lifeboat station, this place oozes understated class but provides superb food with excellent and attentive service, and a pretty neat view. Had the belly pork which was spectacular - but the menu caters for every taste. Some of the fish dishes coming out looked excellent (we'll have to try them on our next visit)
Although you can't normally pre-book at Sams restaurants, you can at this one due to its small and intimate size.
My wife and I went there on a wet and wintry Friday lunchtime only to find most of the tables occupied. Polkerris is a bit off the beaten track - but the trip is well worthwhile.

dined here recently with a group of friends - this was a pre-Christmas get together. Had looked at sereral other venues but felt this offered a good Christmas Menu selection, so as requested sent the pre-order through to the restaurant in good time via the 'contact us' page on the website. On the afternoon of our visit I thought I would check with Sams as I had not received an acknowledgement of the pre-order, only to be informed it had never been received and it was now too late for them to get in the required food! Since our evening at Sams I have tried to contact them again using the 'contact us' page to let them know how disappointed I was, but no response, so either their website is rubbish, or the management just don't care.

I probably won't rush back simply because of the service. For me an evening out, particularly when the total bill was in excess of £500, has to be about service as well as the food, and Sams just didn't do it for me, especially when there are so many other choices around.

This old lifeboat station certainly has a lot to offer. Although it was a busy Sunday, we were attended to immediately by Katie who found us a table and gave us menus, immediately followed by Emma who took our drinks orders. The views from here are magnificent and Emma asked if we would like to move to a table at the panoramic windows as soon as one was free. We ordered the seafood platter for two which at £34 was excellent value. A well presented selection of sautéed scallops.. Cooked to perfection, 6 large grilled sardines, big juicy Tiger prawns, smaller shell on prawns, accompanied by a bowl of mussels and clams, not forgetting the warm focaccia bread was our 'light lunch' that we had promised ourself for the day! A well served glass of Sauvignon Blanc went down very well with that lot. We shall return to sample more of the delicious dishes at SAMs although we are only in this part of the world for a week. MMmmmm ....shall it be the mussels in a creamy Thai sauce or the scallops with black pudding and bacon... Decisions, decisions...!

Oh dear poor deluded people these reviews do not reflect this restaurant having eaten in many places throughout the world this must come near the bottom of the list thought i would try it took my wife and her brother and his wife things went downhill to start(excuse pun) i knew the parking and road down were not good as i used to use the beach years ago but it has got worse with all the pot holes, then on entering sams i was met with a wall of noise thier were kids running around pushchairs in the aisles and a birthday party and then the seating my wife was sat on a leather bench seat which had a large rip in it i was put on a small plastic chair which was pathetic so we managed to move around and proceeded to order starter arrived, scallops well had a job to find them they were that small think it was a couple chopped up and a bit of salad not good, for the main i ordered surf and turf well what arrived was not that as anyone knows the original is steak wrapped around prawns with a sauce this was a steak no sauce unpeeled prawns bit of salad no dressing and soggy chips in a cup it was very bland very poor for the money suggest you look at places like The Pier House at Charlestown see how they do it, the decor left a lot to be desired as well no atmosphere at all in the place, waitresses would be ok in a fast food place, this was billed as fine dining, no way josey it was trying to be something it is not, so in conclusion i would suggest anyone reading these reviews to be careful they do not reflect what we found will not be returning ever again.
