Ate here as a family on a holiday trip to Cornwall. Got there early and food was fresh and seved promptly. There are other good pubs around but this seemed the most family orientated of them. Our holiday accomodation was not too good so we returned a second time and again have no complaints.

We live locally to the pub, lovely place, only 4 others eating this evening, we waited 45 minutes for 2 meals when the food came was dry and if it had been sat for a while too, young waiter asked if food was good, we replied was dry and not nice but had no response to this. Shame but won't return in a rush.

food was great and plenty of it. unfortunatley the waitress service was very bad, no please or thankyou, didnt ask if we required coffees etc, also while eating they were stood watching us, which i find very uncomfortable. a shame really as alovely clean pub and once again delicious food.

Just ate in restaurant...and wow what a surprise. The meal choices gave "a lighter option" and explained in detail why this option would be good for weight-watchers. I was very impressed as its the first hotel I have experienced which gave clear guidance. Well done The Royal...you have been duly noted!

Room Tip: Only used the restaurant facilities....which indicated the level of service for me!

Royal Inn, Par

With very specific requirements (near Eden Project, disabled room, restaurant on site), we found the Royal Inn in Par. I rang them and was put through to a young girl called Kirsty, who was extremely friendly and helpful. She was also the one who was there when we arrived one damp October afternoon.

The car park attached to the pub/hotel is fairly small, and on an incline but it does have a couple of disabled spaces. When we arrived, the back door to the rooms/reception was closed, with a sign directing us to the bar for attention. This may have proved a little difficult had the disabled person been on their own.

We were given adjoining rooms, and as there was no connecting door, I asked for a spare key to my father's (disabled) room in case he had any problems and needed assistance in the night. This was no problem at all for the staff, unfortunately we didn't think about handing in either of the keys when we went out the next day, which meant that my dad's room wasn't made up as the cleaner didn't have a key. It was not a problem, and our fault entirely. The cleaner had very helpfully attached a bag to the handle of the room, with replenished tea and coffee making stuff as well as a toilet roll.

The rooms were very comfortable, large and nicely furnished. My dad's disabled room was equipped with all the aids you would expect.

There is a bar and a restaurant on site with an extensive menu. The first night there was only us and another couple (residents), but the second night was much busier. The food was excellent and the staff really friendly, efficient and helpful. Nothing seemed too much trouble and always delivered with a smile. We were served by Kirsty again the second night as well as the breakfast the following morning – she made us feel like we were old friends by this stage. All the other staff we encountered were also helpful and friendly – I believe the pub had been taken over by new management the day before we arrived.

All in all I would be very happy to return here – the hotel is so very conveniently situated for the Eden Project (and the staff went to great lengths to explain the direction to us as road works had closed the main route there) as well as exploring this beautiful part of Cornwall.

It is with great pleasure that I recommend The Royal Inn at Par, Cornwall. The Inn is situated on the railway bridge and is a just a few yards walk from the Down Platform - up the footpath slope (no steps) and the Inn is right in front of you. The entrance is through the bar but the reception is separate and the host will explain about the residents door to you. The check in was excellent and quick. I was with a friend and we both were booked in separate rooms as requested and was a weekend package. The rooms, and corridors to the Inn accommodation are spotless and the rooms have all the amenities which you would expect including a "safe" for any valuables. The furnishings are all new and majority pine wood. Bathroom very clean and shampoo gell and towels on a warm rail. Although the inn is non-smoking, it would appear that smoking has occurred on one of the balconies as we observed an ash-tray to one side, so best to ask for a complete no smoking room if you do not wish to smoke. The meals are taken in one of two rooms adjacent to the bar. There is a huge range of lunch and evening meals to choose from - very large portions and all cooked to order with local Cornwall produce where possible - (so don't be impatient as the chef will only start cooking once your order has been received). Breakfast is also excellent with good choices of cereals, yoghurt, fruit etc. Choice of Cornish breakfast or kippers! There is the possibility that there will be a pop band one night during your stay. This is generally between 21.00hrs and 23.00hrs. - its a local tradition because the Inn caters for its villagers and non-residents. On the night we were there it was possible to hear it a bit in the rooms but not really a problem. Overall its certainly a place I would stay again and am very pleased to be able to recommend it through the web-site :- www.station-stays.co.uk.

Room Tip: If you do not smoke, as for an ordinary room without the balcony.

My wife and myself stayed for the second year running at The Royal Inn and again had an excellent holiday.
Staff very friendly, polite, had time for every resident and nothing was too much trouble
We had a premier double room which was very large, clean and everything you wanted
Food was always served very hot, quality excellent and presenation outstanding. The meals were cooked to order so do not expect fast food style meals. It was very difficult to keep thinking we were not in a 5 star restaurant. The prices are very reasonable as well
The restaurant is open to non residents which is not a problem but if you have not stayed previous do not forget to reserve your table when booking or at least one night in advance
We had relatives join us for evening meals and they to good not fault the food

Room Tip: Book early in the restaurant to sample the excellent food
