“Yummy, Sunday Lunch!”
Reviewed 9 September 2012

Being a local, I frequent the Royal Inn every sunday lunchtime as do many of my friends from my church. Their roast dinners cannot be beaten. For the meat eater there is always a choice from three meats, usually, Turkey, Beef or Pork. The Veggie is also offered a veg pie or crumble, but I tend to have the roast meal without the meat and ask also for veggie gravy. There is always plent on the plate. They do a normal plate which costs just under £8.00 of roast meat, roast potatoes, homemade yorkshire pudding, and four different fresh seasonal vegetables, stuffing and then home made gravy. (If you want a smaller portion then that is also avalible). Where possible the food is locally sourced and the plates are always piping hot. On a Sunday lunchtime there is a limited menu with two starters, a roast option, fish option and two other meat dishes. Sandwiches and home made chips are also avalible. There are also a large selection of desserts again many are home made.

During the week this resturant offers a two course meal for currently £4.95. There is also 'specials' which change from day to day and there is also a menu too. Tuesday Lunchtime a Pensioners Roast Lunch deal is also offered. If you have food preferences Matt the Chef or Sarah his side kick will happily try to accommodate. For children there is also a menu for them to choose from or you can have, where possible, smaller portions of food from the adult menu.

It is a popular Public House with both locals and holiday makers and is situated by the Railway Station in Par. It offers many local ales and is a Free House. There are many events held here throughout the year and the managers support the local community. There is also a covered outside area for those who love to smoke too.

I have held parties here myself and my friend had her Wedding reception in the resturant. That was great fun. Our church has its Christmas meal here too in the run up to Christmas. There is a car park but there is no childrens play area. You can even stay here as it also has a number of rooms (18) furnished to a high standard. It is open all year round and well behaved dogs are allowed in the bar too.

I would advise booking for Sunday lunch as it is extremely popular so not to be disappointed.
