Good local food cooked simply but with such a professional flair. Just a little room at the back of the local pub, so you must book, though you can eat in the bar as well.

Hidden at the back of a pub, and very small, this was a real find! Do book, and only go with a large appetite. This was the best meal we had in the area, and the cheapest. The young chef could have a big future ahead of him

We had read the rave reviews on Trip Advisor but looking at the place we were doubtful. It is so surprising! A small dining room and tiny kitchen behind a busy pub, but what great food the young chef and his team produce. From the large menu my wife chose the crab salad and I the chicken liver pate with glazed onions to start, and both generous portions were extremely tasty. An enormous portion of fish and chips, - moist fish, light crisp batter, and real chips, and a delicious fish pie with vegetables lightly cooked to perfection followed. The desserts were oh so tempting, but after eating so much all we could manage was a shared ice cream.

My only criticism was the expresso coffee that could have been richer.

After settling a very reasonable bill we left having had the best pub meal ever. Well worth a visit if you are in the area, but advisable to book first.

We went to The Strand after reading all the brilliant reviews on Trip Advisor but when we arrived my husband was completely put off by the look of the place and wanted to leave, don't be fooled the food is absolutely fantastic and the service great. Great value for money and very generous portions.
