We stumbled across The New Inn whilst on holiday in Cornwall when we took a wrong turning and were all tired, grumpy and hungry. The New Inn had clearly been newly redecorated and was bright, clean, modern and welcoming (the toilets were very impressive indeed!). The staff were locals and very friendly and both they and the manager were incredibly accommodating about our order (one member of our party was a little hard to please!). The manager's wife and baby daughter popped in while we were there and the whole impression was of a friendly, family run business. We had a large and different from the usual ploughmans, with locally sourced ingredients including some delicious Cornish yarg, ham, pickles etc and the bar staff even made my husband a hot chocolate which cheered him up no end. If we lived closer we all agreed we would definitely return and try out The New Inn's evening menu and who knows, perhaps even become regulars, but if we do ever find ourselves in the area again we will make sure we retake that wrong turning that led us to The New Inn.
