Great, safe place to visit, have fun with family...we had so much fun on Easter break.. friendly people
Whilst I am an experienced traveller and someone who takes good time to look at reviews before booking my family and I made quite a late decision to travel from the Midlands down to Cornwall. We had to take what we could find ! Big Mistake!
Now I always attempt to be positive where possible and fair to providers of accommodation but this review will be seperated into 2 main parts. 1 is a major warning to anyone looking to book through the owner of this accommodation and the second will comment on the accommodation itself. You may ask initially, why would I want to comment on the owners of the accommodation?
The answer is simple really. These people are dishonest and in the business of taking holiday makers for fools. As far as absolute disgraceful conduct goes 'Jane' as she referred to herself as bombarded us with text messages upon our departure from the property accusing us of damaging various parts of the house and also of stealing a pair of scissors. Now I appreciate as landlords of holiday property you are expecting your place to be left un-damaged and clean and tidy, but to accuse peaceful holiday makers of theft is nothing short of horrific. To start this process off we booked the accommodation and confirmation was received. All appeared to be legitimate and welcoming. We were given our house number and it wasn't until we arrived that we were told that the place we were due to stay had been switched due to a 'leak' and we had been moved to another of their properties. It was raining and the gentleman was helpful in assisting take our bags. He showed us how to use the heating but never once pointed us in the direction of the inventory. This is something we discovered half way through our stay and as we were only using this as a roof over our heads and spending each day on the road, we didn't do our usual check of what was on the inventory. (See scissors comment above). This property was condensed and even for 3 adults and a small child was very crowded downstairs with outdated furniture and a hideously small tv. To try and remove some of the stale air that was present within the property we opened the downstairs window (even though it was cold outside) we deemed this necessary to not feel ill whilst inside first thing in the morning and early evening. Unfortunately the unkept and poor nature of the accommodation meant that the window would not close properly (having read more in depth reviews since coming home this is very common). Needless to say you know where this is heading. We check out on time, leaving the accommodation spotless only to receive a plethora of Text messages from Jane saying we have damaged the window hinges because we have clearly hung a wet suit on it). First thing I would expect rather than a barrage of text messages accusing us of damaging the hinges would be a phone call to ask if any damage had been caused? Instead this lady insisted we had hung something on the window and kapputt the hinges broke. I am afraid if anyone actually inspected the quality of these places and the windows they would clearly see the horrendous nature of the structure. We were then told we have stolen a pair of scissors which 'must've been us, because she had only just replaced them' After the 5th accusation of damage on text I tried to call Jane to discuss her ridiculous claims only for her conveniently not answer and follow with another text saying she was 'too busy to speak.' We kindly offered to pay £5 (generous) towards a plastic microwave heating cover that had a crack in it due to being stood on. Strangely when the landlord complaint of damage came through I believe they were asking for £15 for one of these! (£2 online)!!
This lady looks to take advantage of holiday makers by holding onto their deposit to make a few extra bob. Be VERY careful if you look to book in this holiday park. We voiced our concerns to TripAdvisor about the deposit paid and this is simply a case of her word against ours. We are continuing to voice our displeasure and have sent an email to watchdog UK to ask them to investigate this landlord to see if there is a trend of similar behaviour or if in fact we have just been really unlucky.
The accommodation as a building was clean, I have mentioned how crowded it is and very outdated, but it did have plenty of crockery and cutlery. The main bedroom upstairs has one of the worst mattresses known to man, but at least the linen was clean.
If you are absolutely desperate to travel to Cornwall then I'd probably look to stay on be outskirts and travel from there as I couldn't recommend this place to anyone.
Accommodation fine lovely site just right size. Only one complaint was double bed upstairs was so noisy and creeky every time you moved. Didnt sleep well .Sorry Jane you were so helpful and obliging with the booking.
We have just left after two fun filled weeks staying in this property. The property is clean and tidy and has everything you need for your stay. The owners are very helpful and approachable and sorted out a couple of small issues we had the very next day! The position of the property on the park is fantastic, right beside the playground so the kids can play and you can be confident they're nearby, near to the shop, pool and reception. The shop is well stocked and very reasonably priced. The kids loved the games room and the laundrette was
useful having four children! The pool while small was never too busy and the kids enjoyed it. We ate a couple of times in chefs corner and the food was basic but good value.
Perranporth itself is a lovely place and a great base to explore the region from. We had some lovely days out, Pendennis Castle, St Michaels Mount, Minack, Newquay Zoo and some beach days and never had to drive for long distances to get there. We even managed to see Kate and Wills on Towan Beach! Some great times had and memories made, we would definitely return
Decent accommodation on a friendly holiday park. Owners really good and responsive. Ideal location for beaches and local towns. Great place for small kids with excellent pool and childrens playpark.
