Welcoming, friendly staff who genuinely care about the guest's wellbeing, whether during the reservation process and check in, or in the course of one's stay. The property is charming, quirky, and impeccably maintained. Rooms are spotlessly clean, eclectically decorated in a tasteful way and have beds( made locally) which are so comfortable you may consider missing breakfast! Don't.!!..The breakfast menu caters for every appetite.. and the yoghurt and croissants are memorable.. not to mention the juiciest kippers ever. We also dined in the brasserie and thoroughly enjoyed the food and the friendly service. Wine list is reasonably priced. This is an ideal bolt-hole/ romantic retreat destination.. As for the outside space... It is positively enchanting, full of delightful touches in an Alice in Wonderland type way with a view which is nothing short of breathtaking.. At every turn, there is proof that the proprietors, Vanessa and Michael ,love their hotel... and we do too!

We came across this hotel by chance, were only going to stay for one night, and ended up staying four. The staff and owners clearly care deeply about this wonderful place. The rooms and public areas are sumptuous, lovingly dressed, even witty. The setting, overlooking a secluded bay, couldn’t be bettered. There’s also a quiet beach with a charming beach cafe just a few minutes’ walk from the hotel. The menu in the hotel restaurant and bistro displayed a love of food and a passion for culinary inventiveness. We will certainly come back!

Have not stayed in this hotel (yet) but were lucky enough to be treated to a meal in the restaurant. The food was amazing - presentation was really good and the flavour matched completely. The front of house service was also lovely and we were so well looked after throughout our visit. The hotel has a really interesting decor and is set in a stunning location with beautiful views. Hope to stay soon .....

Thank you to all the chefs and the front of house staff for a truely memorable evening.

SUPERB hotel and service, SCRUMPTIOUS food and STUNNING location. These are the only words to describe the fabulous Talland Bay Hotel.

Some background first…………….my wife and I had been staying at the Talland Bay Hotel for nearly 30 years until about 5 years ago when we stopped as it was becoming very shabby and run down. However, Vanessa and Michael then bought the hotel about 18 months ago and undertook a massive refurbishment programme. We returned to the hotel in May last year and immediately fell back in love with it. We have now just returned from a fabulous 7 night stay and felt compelled to write another review of this wonderful hotel.

The hotel is blessed with the most stunning of locations looking out over Talland Bay itself with the starts of the coastal walks to Looe and Polperro in view. We were lucky to have glorious weather for all but one day of our week and as a result spent most afternoons lazing in the garden on the very comfortable sun loungers looking out to sea with the sun blazing above us.

If you can make the effort to get up and turn away from the sea the hotel is there with its pristine white walls glistening in the sun and the magnificent gardens coming in to full bloom – this really is a spectacular location and with the weather like it was one wonders why we ever bother to go abroad.

Of course, such a stunning location would be nothing without the other many ingredients of a great hotel – food, service, quality of bedrooms etc. And here Talland Bay Hotel again scores top marks in every department.

The hotel has lots of art and quirky objects in the rooms and around the grounds which add to the attraction. As for the bedrooms we had a look at several to see how they had changed as we have stayed in many of them over the years. Every room is decorated to the highest possible standard and many share the magnificent views which you have when in the gardens. A few have country views which are equally attractively decorated.

As for the service, well superb is the best description - extremely professional and nothing is too much trouble. The owners, Vanessa and Michael, are very much hands on in running the hotel and have an excellent front of house team of Lauren, Marc, Yani, Linda and Peter working alongside them. Plus they have Penny and her colleagues in the housekeeping department who keep everything absolutely spotless.

Out of sight there are, of course, the kitchen team and I apologise for not knowing all of their names. This brings me on to the food which reached new heights this week. You can either eat in the Brasserie which is the hotel bar where there is an extensive range of meals or the Fine Dining in the restaurant which is more formal. We did eat in the restaurant every night which was our choice and the food was superb with several outstanding meals.

Talking of food reminds me of the lunches that are available – these are from the Brasserie menu and on the sunny days it was sheer perfection having lunch on the terrace overlooking the sea. Utter bliss!

Of course if the weather is not so kind to you then there are numerous attractions in easy reach such as the Eden Project, Plymouth and many National Trust properties including Lanhydrock. In not so nice weather you can therefore find a lot to do, comforted in the knowledge that you are returning at the end of the day to such a superb hotel.

To summarise, the Talland Bay Hotel is simply wonderful – excellent accommodation, superb service, a pristine hotel in a stunning location.

Huge thanks to Vanessa, Michael and the whole team and we look forward to our next visit later in the year.

We experienced a warm and friendly welcome and professional service from proprietors and staff. Throughout our stay the service was attentive and nothing was too much trouble.

The rooms are comfortable, spacious, light and airy: all public rooms and many of the bedrooms have seaviews. A feature of the hotel is the art work, interior decoration and furnishings which have all been carefully chosen and put together in an attractive way.

Breakfast and dinner are both of a high quality and are served in the dining room which is immaculately presented and with lovely views of the sea and garden. Excellent food is also provided in the bar area where we particularly enjoyed the fish and chips.

The hotel has delightful gardens overlooking Talland Bay and lies between two headlands of unspoilt countryside where sheep and horses graze in the fields. The beach and the coastal path are within easy walking distance of the hotel gardens which alone are worth spending the time in just relaxing and enjoying the view.

Overall this hotel is so good that it makes you want to go back again and again.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel for one night as a fill-in hotel on our way to another venue and almost wish our whole time could have been spent here. We negotiated the narrow lanes and found the hotel nestling above a lovely peaceful bay.

The owners have turned this into a delight as there are many quirky but tasteful artefacts to keep you amused. The service was impeccable and very friendly and the meal in the restaurant is to be recommended - on a par with London fine dining. Our room had a sea view which was wonderful to wake up to, the only downside being the small armchair and the small sink.

We are looking forwards to going back for a much longer stay.

Firstly a big thank you to Michael, Lauren and all the staff at The Talland Bay Hotel for making our daughter's wedding such a memorable, hassle free and wonderful event. The event took place on 11th December 2010 and from start to finish the planning, attention to detail, food, service and accomodation were first class. Nothing was too much and they worked tirelessly to make this day the pleasure it was. The setting is just fantastic and the rooms are fabulous. Many of our guests have remarked on how lovely the day was (which is to be expected) but they also had high praise for the staff at Talland. We would have no hesitation in recommending this venue for a formal function, a long stay or a short break. The choice of rooms, food and wine hits the spot and all in such a beautiful setting.
