“Perfect birthday”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

We stayed at the Talland Bay in March 2014 to celebrate a significant birthday. We had one of the cottages and were accompanied by our three dogs, one large and two small. Both we and the dogs were made most welcome. What a lovely touch to provide doggy coverings and home baked biscuits. For Sunday lunch we were joined by a party of friends. Both food and service were quite outstanding, and the gardens with their quirky statues and fantastic views, were delightful. We enjoyed drinks on the terrace before Sunday lunch and even the weather was perfect - warm and sunny, although at the beginning of March. The food was outstandingly good throughout our stay, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We would thoroughly recommend this lovely hotel to anyone - especially dog owners. Frances and Geoff

Room Tip: When travelling with dogs, the cottages are an excellent option.

We came for evening meal with friends and two "young ones". I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and the restaurant was beautiful. It was a little difficult for one of the young ones to get food to suit but hostess was amenable in getting something for her. I didn't feel that service staff were as interested in us as they appeared to be in those who were staying at the hotel or maybe it was as we were a bigger group. However food was great, pork snitzel and fillet steal were lovely. Would have Iiked to go back as a couple to see if that made a difference to service. I would certainly recommend food and for couples. (The young ones were impeccably behaved and completely respectful to other dogs and staff )

We arrived for a two night stay to glorious sunshine and outstanding views of the sea. We were literally dazzled by the views - and the rest of our stay reflected our initial feelings of "wow!".
Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for any of the staff or for the extremely helpful owners. We were made to feel completely at home, and within a very short amount of time, all the stresses of everyday life disappeared.
The food was excellent- delicious with very generous portion sizes.
Our room was wonderful - sublime views across the sea with two armchairs and a sofa to relax in, and a very comfortable bed.
We will definitely return!

Just had a short break at Talland Bay Hotel. Mike and Vanessa have turned this hotel into a real beauty. The rooms are spotless, the beds really large and comfortable and the food is great. Hand on heart we had the best Sunday lunch we have ever had in UK bar none, absolutely outstanding! A special word for the hotel manager who was the epitome of friendly professionalism. Add all this to views to die for and great walks and you have a truly excellent hotel experience.

Room Tip: Room 28 is fantastic

by far the nicest place to stay in the area. with its quirky ornaments and boutique style décor, excellent service and attentive staff, luxury rooms, (had a garden suite last visit with sea view) lovely food, excellent bar (more than 20 types of gin on offer for example!!!!!). if you like comfy surroundings, seaviews, pretty garden and excellent food and really nice people, look no further. highly recommended. it dog friendly too if that's important to you.

Room Tip: the sea view rooms are wonderful, but if you cannot get one, remember you can sit in the garden as m...

Our first stay at the Talland Bay Hotel was absolutely fantastic. Everybody was very friendly and most helpful. We loved the pictures and art in the hotel which added to the charm and ambience of the hotel. The food is just to die for and my wife and I cannot wait to return.
