“Perfect mini honeymoon”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 August 2014 via mobile

We stayed in one of the little cottages away from the beautiful main building. All aspects of the stay (with our doodle I might add) were great. We particularly liked the 5pm routine on the sun loungers with a local cider overlooking the amazing view of the Talland Bay. Everything about our week was top class, accommodation, breakfast, dinner (when we stayed home) and the location. See you next time, then dog can't wait to return ;)

My wife and I have just returned from a wonderfully relaxing break at this hotel.
The location is superb, with sweeping views over Talland Bay, although the narrow access road is not for the faint hearted.
There is easy access to the South West Coast Path, with delightful walks east to Looe, or west to Polperro.
The rooms are comfortable, and well appointed.
The star of the show is the dining area, split between a lovely, traditional dining room and a light and airy conservatory.
The menu is extensive and varied, but I reserve the highest praise for the standard of the cooking. Throughout our stay of 5 nights, the cuisine was of the highest order. It might be invidious to single anything out, but the scallops, and we had them 5 times between us, were as good as I have ever eaten
To add to this, the complement of serving staff were all excellent; always attentive, but never intrusive, and unfailingly pleasant, welcoming and knowledgeable.
The manager, Stephen Waite, is worthy of the highest praise, which I happily bestow.
We will go again.

Brief birthday treat from my wife. Perfect setting above the beach.Fabulous food and interiors deserve 5 stars. Elegant dining room and less formal conservatory bistro area to choose. This is where breakfast is served overlooking the gardens and sea...brilliant.
Staff very efficient and friendly/ helpful. Impressive artworks throughout the hotel.
Enjoy cliff walk down to Polperro and only modest drive in to Looe for those who have the urge to shop and explore the busy harbour areas.

Room Tip: Room overlooking the gardens to the sea. What a view to wake up to.

Returned to Talland Bay for a birthday treat with high expectations and it didn't disappoint! From the moment we arrived we felt relaxed - the food was great and all the staff were extremely friendly. Went for a walk to Polperro on the one day and enjoyed champagne, cocktails and the view from our balcony on the other - will definitely return! Would recommend water for the walk as parts are v steep!

what a lovely hotel, overlooking the ocean, owners and staff were very nice and helpful, my bedroom was on the side of the hotel overlooking hills, room was spotless and tastefully decorated, bathroom had everything you needed, even towelling dressing gown which just like the towels was lovely and fluffy, we eat in the restaurant one night and out the next, breakfast was very good and cooked to perfection, and to top it all the weather was fabulous.

Room Tip: i was on the top floor, which was no problem for me, but something to think about, it was a very qui...

We visit Cornwall several times a year and although this isn't our favoured area in Cornwall we have always wanted to stay at this hotel. It's a lovely hotel in a beautiful setting and the views are amazing. We ate in the restaurant on the first night. quite expensive but was worth it as a special treat. The owners and staff are what make the hotel I think as we have stayed in hotels that offer better value for money, but having said that we did enjoy our stay very much and would come back on another offer in the future.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 17. Nice room Really nice large bathroom with a free standing bath. The room over...

A very unusual privately owned hotel that caters for dogs in the cottages attached to the main house. Varied quirky artwork that somehow works. Great service, lovely gardens, good food. Not cheap but worth it. This is a "get away from it all" place where you can relax and chill out. There were some very interesting people around when we were there but you can keep to yourself if you wish.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view, will cost more but this is one of the reasons for going to this Hotel. Diogs are...
