Stayed here one night with my son and dog whilst visiting my Dad. The staff a really friendly and we were lucky to have one of their large family rooms which had a large LCD TV, comfy beds and tea, coffee, etc.
I last stayed here 2 years ago and I can safely say this trip was even better than the last. Will definitely be staying again.

When we first saw the hotel we were unsure ,but once we got inside,it was all on one level, with walk in shower the only downside to this was maybe could have had a couple of bars in the shower, for disabled people to hold on to,as when wet, the floor was still quite slippy,so we put down the shower mat,,,,,,problem solved. The room was really lovely and clean, tea and coffee supplied also.Staff very helpful, nearly everyone offered to push the wheelchair for me.We had dinner in the restaurant, and food was fab, huge portions,so very good value, coming down again in October so will definitely stay here again. The only thing I have to say on the downside is the sign at the bottom of the road is not very clear, due to overgrown grass,so maybe needs to be higher up,Both times we came back to the hotel we nearly missed the turning

We stayed at Tricky's 2 nights for a 60th birthday celebration. The reception/waitresses/housekeeping staff are all very efficient and friendly - nothing was too much trouble. Our room was spotless with a good flat screen TV and an extremely comfortable bed - we overlooked the immaculate gardens. Our modern shower was slightly on the temperamental side (Room 11 if the manager is reading this - we forgot to mention it when checking out.) Our friends who also stayed at Trickys had an excellent shower. The full English breakfasts were very good and the evening meal also of a high standard. The birthday celebration was held in the very light and airy Garden Room of the hotel - this room also overlooks the gardens with 3 sets of double doors opening out on to an outside decking area and large, colourful tubs of flowers. The gardener at this hotel also deserves top marks. In spite of the hot/cold shower, I am still giving an Excellent rating as everything else was 10 out of 10. We shall be back!

The staff were very pleasant and helpful . The food was god and reasonable in price . Drinks were at the usual hotel type of prices . Not a great selection for breakfast ,but the full English was good .

Room Tip: Choose rooms 1 - 6 nearest the reception ,All rooms are on the ground floor .

Stayed here for 2 nights - the hotel is in a nice quiet location and the rooms are set back from the main pub. The rooms are themselves functional and clean and the wireless availability throughout the venue is great and an example of best practice to some 'premium' hotels who seem to think this is an optional extra. The breakfast is very nice and well cooked as is all the good here. The pub seems to be popular for good and looking at what was being brought out it all looked very good. The beers in the pub were good with 3 cask bitters - Tribute being nice and well kept and regularly poured. Attended a wedding at the venue which was also well organised in the nice venue of the garden room (and garden). Well done -good value and good service.

Room could be viewed as a little tired but the warm welcome and the cracking food more than make up for that. I was slightly concerned as the initial impression from the outside is less than impressive but don't let that fool you. The restaurant interior is beautiful with lots of beams and character oozing from every corner.
Well kept beers and ciders - what more could one ask for?

My son held his wedding at Trickys last weekend and what a wonderful experience it was! He and his wife had all the support and guidance they required from the wedding organiser, Amanda leading up to the day. We had a lot of guests who travelled from all over the country and the majority of them stayed at the hotel for a couple of nights. We received nothing but praise regarding the venue, food, wedding and overall experience. The only tongue in cheek negative comment was that it was too quiet at night to sleep! Everything went well with no problems; the wedding was held outside in the garden, there was plenty of beautifully cooked food, the staff were courteous and happy and nothing was too much trouble. I had arranged a family get together in the restaurant on Friday evening for approximately 30 people and Tricky's accommodated that as well even though their Friday nights are busy. Those of us who were not residents at the hotel also turned up on Sunday morning for breakfast with family members who were going home that day and were happily served a full English! All in all the whole event was made extremely memorable and 'hassle free' by all the staff and I cannot recommend them enough for this type of event again.
