“A great surprise”
Reviewed 25 May 2013 via mobile

We discovered it by chance as it is really near our cottage. it's beautiful, unsual and full of history. our children loved walking all the way round and all the way back up as they get a certificate. a hidden gem!

“A little piece of Cornish heritage”
Reviewed 7 May 2013

I love Gwennap pit. It's steeped in history and worthy of a visit. There isn't a great deal else at the sight and a visit does not take long. I was lucky when I went that it was a beautiful day and I was the only person there and it was tranquil and special.

“Tranquil and important”

Not much to see, but a significant historical site. Not easy to find either. A peaceful spot for reflection.

“Interesting piece of history”
Reviewed 23 April 2013

Growing up near Gwennap pit we use to go there in the holidays to see it. The roads are narrow but that is the nature of Cornwall. (also slows down the traffic)
There are lots of lovely volunteers to help tell you about the attraction. You can probably do a visit in an hour and it is nicer on a sunny day but can be viewed in the rain.

“A hole in the ground”
Reviewed 21 April 2013

I wouldn't make a trip only to see that place, but if you in area it's worth visiting, but a bit hard to find, as roads are winding and very narrow and the brown tourist signs appear only when you really got to the place - although post code took me right to their doorway. The Gwennap Pit consists of a Methodists chapel with a terraced whole in the ground which seems to be some sort of mining reminder. And that's it.
