It's difficult to add to the many positive reviews - we spent three days here to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary, and loved it. Relaxed atmosphere, beautifully furnished, very pleasant staff, comfortable throughout, and, of course, truly excellent food, served in an unfussy, generous way. We went out to a pub for some simple food on the middle of our three nights at Driftwood and were glad we did so for the sake of our waistlines, but there are plenty of clifftop walks on the doorstep to work up an appetite, so don't worry! Thoroughly recommended.

Room Tip: Room 10 is light and airy, very spacious and has glorious views, some comfy chairs and a very nice b...

Lovely location, spacious and stylish room, wonderful food and great service. What more can you ask for? I have rated everything 'excellent' except 'sleep quality'. The bed was too soft for us, but others may disagree. We loved our stay at Driftwood and will be back.

We recently spent a few days at this hotel. It is very evident from the reviews that it's a lovely place with wonderful views and attentive and friendly staff. This too was our experience. Many reviewers have commented on the quality of the food. This is where we have to depart from the vast majority. It was obvious that the chef is talented but we did not like the end result. We have been fortunate enough to be able to eat at some fine restaurants (Le Manoir,The Waterside-Bray,the Splendido-Portofino etc) so we are well acquainted with this style of dining.Being fair to the chef and the owners most guests love the food. It just wasn't for us.Sorry

Just returned from a one night stay - a birthday treat having read all the good reviews .I can't believe that having lived a mere 1/2 hr away we have left it so long to come to experience the fabulous food and hotel .Yes the meal was expensive but the beauty of it is they leave you to enjoy and savour each course with just the right amount of attention in between each course .Also happy to give you any helpful advice about each item on the menu .
Lovely hotel and decorated very tastefully throughout .
Hope to return in the not too distant future .

Room Tip: We were upgraded which was a real bonus -lovely sea view

A return visit to Portscatho, near St Mawes, for a long week-end break. The hotel is - as ever - bright, welcoming and the bedrooms immaculate, with REN products in the lovely bathrooms. Paul and Fiona run the hotel as an extension of their home, with personal attention to detail. The lounge is comfy with great views - there is tea and cake in the afternoon, a children's room, a wonderful video library if you want to while away the afternoon rather than take the path down to the beach or visit the several beautiful gardens in this part of Cornwall. Reliable wi-fi is everywhere for those vital e mails when you are not swept up in the beautiful vista from the large dining room windows.
The food is consistently brilliant, and our conclusion on this visit was that it's just getting better every time. The chef combines wonderfully intricate strands of taste and texture with properly sized portions, using locally sourced ingredients of which the team is rightly proud. But it's more than the Michelin Star, it's just outstanding cooking, the inventiveness when variations are requested, the unfussy service in the dining room and a very nice wine list. Breakfasts are a delight, relaxed and delicious too.
This is probably one of the best British hotels of this kind and a wonderful place to escape to in the knowledge that the stay will be consistently of a very high standard and the dining experience quite remarkable.

What a wonderful hotel Driftwood is. Set in a stunning location with beautiful, uninterrupted views of the sea.

Stunning gardens and areas to sit out and relax in. Everywhere was beautifully tended.

The food and wine was some of the best we have ever enjoyed. The chef thoroughly deserves his Michelin star.

Our room was very spacious by any standard and had the most lovely view. It was beautifully furnished with no lack of attention to detail anywhere. Bathroom was spotless as was everywhere else in the hotel.

This is clearly a popular and well regarded establishment and we will certainly return next time we're in lovely Kernow

Fabulous location for this welcoming hotel, tastefully decorated providing a great balance of comfort & luxury. First-class service from friendly & well informed staff. Fantastic food from the talented chef Chris Eden who produces consistently imaginative and delicious menus. We particularly enjoyed the tasting menu we had this stay (our 2nd visit), all the fish dishes needless to say were cooked to perfection, however we were blown away by the venison. As we commented last time we stayed, we cannot understand why this chef has only one Michelin star. Thanks to all at Driftwood for another couple of days in Cornwall paradise.
