We chose Hornacott from Sawday's "Special Places to Stay" , for its location as a base for visits in Cornwall and Devon, with our highest priority peaceful seclusion to return to each evening. We could not have chosen better. From the friendly welcome (with delicious homemade cake) on our arrival to our reluctant departure 4 days later we were made to feel completely at home. Our greatest pleasure was our personal sitting room, adjoining our bedroom, spacious and pleasantly furnished, with tea and coffee making facilities, and a good supply of local guides, books and magazines. Both our bedroom and bathroom were perfectly equipped, the latter with both bath and shower, and every luxury needed to enjoy them. The windows of both rooms overlooked a delightful, extensive garden, with views across the wooded valley to forested hills beyond. The small penalty for the peace and seclusion is the location on a narrow farm track, which makes the house more difficult to find. However, those lucky enough to have done so may selfishly hope not too many others do succeed! Like a good wine Hornacott needs no bush, but it really deserves its title as a Special Place.
