“Wonderful Time !!!”
Reviewed 3 November 2013 via mobile

Visited this park during half term and have to say we all had a great time, entertainment a bit cheesy at times but they work hard and put in some effort, Halloween night was really good and the little red riding hood show was also very good, bar and reception staff really helpful and nothing was too much trouble even after changing my kettle twice as it had a small leak.
Accommodation a bit overdue an overhaul but clean and functional so can't really complain, I would most definitely come back to this park and would recommend it to anyone wanting a base and a bit of evening entertainment.
Pool was good fun as was the crazy golf and the tennis courts all free.
Thanks everyone for a great week.

We have visited a couple of JFH parks over the year once in March 2013 and again in October 2013 (same park more people in October )and yes some of the cabins could be updated but we have had some fantastic family holiday memories. Good Value for money , menu and food where fantastic - Chris the chef is brilliant. The shop and bar fairly priced. The stripeys where brilliant and made our little girl feel very welcome in every activity and game played , stripey Paul being her favourite. We where even lucky enough to meet Freddie and trixie. The entertainment was brilliant and all members of staff where again welcoming and very friendly . Our game of crazy golf got disrupted by the weather but was still enjoyable . The pool was clean and warm .You get what you pay for and the rest is down too you and is what you make of it as to whether it's a good holiday or not, we have had a fantastic time yet again and look forward to returning next year !! Have had two previous great holidays here but omg what has happened, I have no problem with the accommodation it was tatty but clean and warm which is all you can ask for when you don't pay a lot, and no problem with the value. Also the food menu has improved but as for the rest of it lifeguard waste of space you could drown in there and he wouldn't notice to busy on his phone or smoking. Bar manager is on some sort of power trip encouraging the female nets staff to hang around the bar, and as for the entertainment where did you find this lot they are rubbish although the guy is present and has an ok voice the two girls can't sing or entertain for toffee total let down after last time.

Room Tip: Don't go

It was such a shame to read your remarks regarding your stay at our holiday park. It was obvious from your comments that our entertainment was not to your taste.

Normally our staff are applauded for their service and friendliness, however, I will make the park manager aware of your issues in order that improvements may be made for the benefit of future guests.

I have just today come back from a weeks holiday from here and i am terribly disappointed. As we walked into the House i noticed that the smell of damp was over powereing and still smelt when we left today (7.10.2013), size of the television was poor and during watching it we all had to squint, the fire in the front-room was that noisy we had to turn the television up to various decibels to actually here it, there was yellow blobby stains on the ceiling in the kitchen and the downstairs bedroom, upstairs in the second bedroom was pink marks on the radiator which looks like a child has gone in there with a pen and decided it was a piece of paper, the fan in the toilet was so loud we had to shower etc with the light off as it came on every time you switched the light on and when others were asleep in the house it woke them up. Friday Night me and my granddad decided to go and have a drink up the club house. needless to say the entertainment was abysmal and one particular Member of staff behind the bar was stood there curling her hair with straigner's which at this point i had been waiting for over 5 minutes to be served and when she did notice me she asked another member of staff to serve me and told me "im busy, sorry" and then walked away to which one of the fun stars went over and helped her because apparently " your not doing it right, come here" . Kind of makes me think what sort of staff you actually employ when we pay alot of money to come to this camp site to be treated like complete dogs!!! The swimming pool was freezing cold and One of the Male pool attendants looked to be more intrested in talking to his friend or watching something on his friends mobile then acctually paying attention to his job!

We holiday with John Fowler every year and have done for a number of years but i will not recommend this place to No one and we certainly will Not be spending our money on staying he again! such a pitty because last time was excellent.. whats happened?

This is our third visit to a john fowler holiday park and it will be our last. In order to celebrate our parents 50th wedding aniversery we invited them to join us. On collecting the key to our " silver cottage "we found no. 44. First impressions count so the musty smell did not bode well. Things declined rapidly from the heavily stained curtains through to the mouldly sink surround, the "breakfast bar" was chipped and stained. The carpet shows more stains than pattern, the whole cottage was dark and dank. The experdition upstairs un-earthed more horrors, the bathroom sported a heavily peeling ceiling riddled with staining and holes. The light pull cord was a selection off shoe laces, the electric wall heater was grime and dust incrusted and rusted beyond use. The silicone sealer around the shower/bath was consumed by staining and mould. The bedrooms are furnished with a scattering of miss match of wardrobes and cabinets that are only fit for the up~coming firework night bonfire. Curtains in all the rooms sported an array of duboius stains, the rock hard beds were topped by wafer thin duvets and pillows. The carpets were patterned with stains of various colours and origins, the walls in all upper rooms carried the scars of abuse and damage. We did not un-pack but instead headed to reception to complain The duty manager seemed used to the amount of complaints he was dealing with simular to ours. In his defence we were offered an " re-furbished" cottage which in somepart went to negate the initial horror on our arrivial. My overall opinion of the staff is good, however the pool attendants are either outside the pool area smoking or slumped in a chair deeply engrossed in his mobile phone. Pricing in the club house is eye watering. A pint of guiness,a glass of house rose wine and 2 small diet cokes will give you 20p change from £12. We are members of the VIP club which gives us preferencial bookings and special offers this membership is as usefull as a chocolate teapot. Will we holiday with john fowler again? Not while my body has breath or untill the devil is effected by frost bite. The most telling thing is that a member of the Perran View staff said " don't book through john fowler as the accomidation is s**t " if you want to stay here book privately" Our holuday in Cornwall in the main has been great, thanks to wetherspoons and the Deck public houses for great value food and drink. The beach at perenporth is worth the journey alone but john fowler has tainted our holiday beyond repair.

This is the 2nd John Fowler site I have stayed at in the last couple of months, so I think I had prepared myself enough, plus after seeing some of the reviews and pictures, in a way it was good as I really wasn't expecting much. First impressions aren't always right, yes as you drive in you go over a rough car park and all of the houses look rather dull but we were greeted by a very polite and helpful gentleman who gave us our key and a very large pack of leaflets. We were told that we could drive around to our accommodation and unload the car, but it had to go into the car park, I did firstly think it was a pain, but we were lucky that the weather wasn't too bad, the added bonus of this was that you didn't have the noise of cars and doors opening and closing all the time, which made it nice and quiet (ok this also could have been something to do with there being not many kids this time of year). I would say that 99% of all the houses windows have been replaced fairly recently with brown UPVC windows. Ok, so we found out accommodation and prepared ourselves, yes when we opened the door we did think that maybe the furnishings were a little worn/dated but it was all very clean & tidy, it smelled a little musty but I'm not sure how they would solve this without spending more money which would increase the cost, we paid £157 for Monday to Friday, a very good price, as 4 adults could have easily occupied our accommodation, (No 91) it consisted of 2 x 2 seated sofas, tv (with most of the freeview channels) ok the tv was old & after a couple of hic ups trying to get it work, but we got it sorted, a couple of coffee tables, there was a dinning table & chairs, the kitchen area had lots of cupboards & all the necessary utensils. Our accommodation had 2 bedrooms upstairs, 1 double with wardrobe & dressing table, 1 twin room with dressing table & large cupboard, the bathroom was a little dated but clean (which for me was more important). We did go into the shop & they had the basics & was nice and clean. We did not go into the pool area so sorry can't comment on it, but we did go into the bar area, the staff here were again very friendly & happy to help with any queries we had. We would return if the price was right.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a comprehensive review. We are thrilled to hear how much you enjoyed your stay and how helpful and friendly the staff were.

The parking situation is an interesting one. When the park was designed, for safety sake, it was decided to keep cars away from as many front doors as possible - something which is appreciated by most people with young children, and, by the sound of your comment, by people wanting peace and quiet.

With regard to the "musty" smell, this is so easy to deal with but out of our hands to achieve. In Cornwall, where the humidity is always higher than the rest of the country, it is imperative that our guests have windows open when they are cooking and sleeping. Sadly not all do and we all know what happens when a property is not properly aired.

However, I am delighted to hear that this did not spoil your stay with us and we look forward to welcoming you again very soon.

Just got back from a holiday here. Our 'villa' wasn't as bad as some peoples by the sounds of it, but I do agree that John fowlers do need to update their parks. The bedding for example is shocking, faded and so 70s! The villas themselves look like a bad set of fillings, why dont you paint them white and I'm sure the park would look lovely! Windows were unsafe, a small child could easily fall out of one if left opened. Bedding also slightly damp. Bathroom basic, nowhere to put your hand towel or toothbrush! Swimming pools changing room was absolutely FREEZING! After spending an hour in a warm swimming pool it was like walking into a large fridge, my little one was shivering! No heating and a sky window thing was open causing nasty draft! Lastly, parking was terrible, we usually like to park outside our accommodation yet we had to park in the site's carpark which was dissapointing, especially on a rainy day! Didn't use any of the parks facilities (only play park) so can't comment but my little one did love the play park.
Despite all of the above..would I stay there again? Yes I probably would as it was cheap, good for location and the swimming pool was nice too, despite changing room temperature!

When I first read this very poor review, I immediately tried to contact the writer through the Tripadvisor Messaging service to investigate the issues and to check its validity. Sadly, with all Tripadvisor reviews being anonymous, it is impossible to make direct contact.

To date I have not received a reply to two such messages and I am disappointed that I have not been given the opportunity to put things right.
