We missed the tour but judging by the bar/restaurant, it should be good.

Great range of brewery fresh beers in the bar!

“So thats how it is done”
Reviewed 12 April 2014

Very interesting talk and tour round the Brewery. We were able to sample the beers at the end of the tour and talked to the brewers and tasters, now that's a job. No for those who don't or are unable to tackle stairs. as the brewing process takes place on 3 floors.

“A great place to visit”
Reviewed 12 April 2014 via mobile

Seven of us had a wonderful few hours here, having travelled down by train for the day. It is a short walk up the hill from the station. Our guide was Nick who gave us an interesting and entertaining tour of the brewery followed by some great tastings. Most of their business revolves around the nationally available Tribute, but they do several excellent ales including a delicious stout and a terrific lager, which were both new to us. Nick explained it all very clearly and we had a real laugh with him too. We finished off with some delicious Tribute pasties in their busy pub, with fabulous views out to sea. As the website says, there are a lot if steep steps on the tour so you need to be reasonably mobile. Also, as you might have guessed there's not much here for kids. Highly recommended.

“A rainy birthday in March...”
Reviewed 23 March 2014

This was a genuinely tentative choice. We had visited Heligan the day before and I fancied a day out of the cold. Eden was an option, but we've visited recently, so... I like beer... What a brilliant day we had! You can whiz in and out for your tour, but the staff are so friendly you won't want to. Anne met us at the bar and with an hour before our tour we ordered lunch. The menu is simple, but varied and the panini and pasty in a bag we had were delicious. The tour was fascinating and we were made to feel right at home. After we stayed and enjoyed tasters, used our tour tokens for 2 halves each of our favourite brew and generally got to know the place. Although making a serious amount of beer and sending it around the world this place has kept its family feel. Thank you for a brilliant birthday treat!

“Excellent Tour with Beer!”
Reviewed 15 March 2014

Thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the St Austell brewery led by guide Grant who proved both informative and amusing whilst still managing to keep the group from pressing any big buttons! Lots of interesting history and a very clear explanation of the brewing process 'then and now' made the whole tour (billed as one hour but in reality nearly two!) pass quickly. Lots of stairs (some narrow and steep) made it a good workout as well but would preclude some people from joining in sadly.
The beer tasting at the end was a bonus and the warm reception by all the staff we met and chatted too added to the total experience. Well worth a visit!
