“First Class”
Reviewed 7 December 2010

My wife and I stayed here in late November 2010. We wanted a quiet, romantic weekend away - and on the way down, we had the usual feelings of "can this hotel really be as good as the reviews?" - easy answer - yes.

As many other reviewers have said, the hotel is extremely homely and comfortable. We stayed in the Joanna room, which is separate from the main building, but that just made it feel even more private and relaxing.

The outdoor hot tub was just fantastic, and one of the main reasons we wanted to stay here - being outside in -5 temperatures, but in +38 water under crisp blue skies was brilliant and a great way to start the day.

We didn't meet the owners as it happened, but the staff were just wonderful - we were warmly greeted and the service throughout our stay was helpful, attentive and genuine, which always makes such a big difference.

Out of all the meals, it was the full cooked breakfast that stole the show for me - fantastic local produce, masterfully prepared, set us up for a short walk to the Eden Project.

Free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel was yet another great touch.

The Brittania pub is just a short walk away, and for any real ale lovers, try the St. Austell Brewery "Tribute" beer - it's great! We also had a good pub meal there, but book, as they do get busy.

This is one of a very few hotels in the World that I wouldn't hesitate to return to, safe in the knowledge that I would be instantly relaxed and have a wonderful stay.

Really enjoyed our 3 days here - staff were fantatsic and did everything requested with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble. Stayed in "Elizabeth" - huge 4 poster bed with access onto lawns. 14 rooms means a personal service from the owners which was much appreciated.
Will definately stay there again.

I can find very little to fault with this small, yet superb hotel. At the start of our stay we were warmly greeted by the manager, who is a great host, and given a brief tour of the hotel and its facilities. Our room was beautifully finished and gave a feeling of tastefulness, quality and a touch of eccentricity. In fact, the whole hotel has an individuality missing from so many larger establishments.

There are good facilities for a small hotel, with a tastefully appointed swimming pool, hot tub and a spa room (the latter of which we did not have time to try).

To top it all the food was first rate and reasonably priced. I have been to many a more expensive restaurant and had food that does not come close to Boscundle Manor.

One small point: our bathroom was acceptable but not to the same standard as our bedroom. I suspect there is a gradual process of renovation and you may want to check with the owner when you book. But honestly I cannot recommend Boscundle Manor enough. The excellent rooms, food and facilities combined with a genuine sense of personality make this a hotel I would not hesitate to revisit.

We stayed for one night after reading some great reviews on the hotel, and were not let down in any way.
We booked into a basic room and it was furnished to perfection and very homely.
We ate our evening meal in the restaurant and it was of a very good standard, and service was excellent.
The owner was extremely warming, and you could tell that he took pride in his hotel, unlike many others that we have stayed at!
We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone that enjoys quality and great service, we will most definately be returning for a weekend soon

The hotel was very welcoming and the staff without exception were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and well furnished and the restaurant was very good. It was in easy driving distance of the Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Helligan and Fowey all of which are excellent venues for a visit.
