“made to feel like family, fantastic breakfast!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 September 2010

After finally getting over how steep the drive was, we got to the B&B and were greeted by Kay with a massive smile and lots of useful information. We got there at about 2, and got a bit peckish and Kay suggested we visit the Western Inn (who were fantastic).

The room we were given was the ground floor front facing, just next to the living room. It was very spacious, the comfiest double bed I've ever slept in, a nice shower and toilet too. We were given tea and cornish biscuits every day too, I had the biscuits every day, they're delicious!

Also, there was a massive bag full of brochures and leaflets about different day trips available. We went for; The Eden Project, Newquay, Mevagissey and generally just mooching about around St Austell.

The breakfast that we were given was absolutely devine, it filled me up for the day, which was fantastic! You haven't lived until you've tried it!

We were the youngest couple that were staying at the B&B, but we weren't treated any differently, which was great, because we were worried we'd be consued as louts.

We are already planning our next trip to the Cestria, and can't wait for a big old breakfast and a pint of Rattler in the Western Inn. THANK YOU!

we found the cestria quite easily on the main road, we were made very welcome, the room although small was clean and comfortable.the breakfast was very good and set us up for the day of exploring.we found the owners very willing and happy to help with any problems.we very much enjoyed our stay, although the traffic noise from the main road a bit annoying we would stay there again

We very much enjoyed our stay at the comfortable cestria b and b. We were given a very warm and hospitable welcome and thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Megavissey and The Lizard were two of the most lovely places I have ever been and this was all thanks to the owner's recommendation. Very pleasant. Nicely looked after place. Yummy breaksfast too! I recently did a trip to Cornwall, exploring the entire coast, staying everyday in a different location (8 B&B’s in total). My last stop was St Austell and I staid at Cestria for 2 nights, based on its proximity to Eden Project, price and good reviews from the Trip Advisor website.
To be honest, compared the other B&B’s I staid during this trip, it was the weakest (and wasn’t the cheapest either). As a comparison, the previous night I slept in a Silver Award, sea view B&B in Falmouth for the same price.
I am not to fussy when it come to B&B: all I expect is a cosy and clean room for a good night sleep; a nice and hot shower and a decent breakfast. Cestria, when it comes to the first two options, is fine, although the room was a bit small and the whole house was cold when we arrived.
However, the breakfast was poor. To start, the dining room was small, with a single table to all guests (that could get quite crowded easily). Despite having in the menu yogurt and fresh fruits, yogurt didn’t exist on both days and fresh fruit meant a few bananas and apples. The milk and the juice were served in a communal jar which weren’t refilled. The English breakfast wasn’t that bad, but it was the first time someone served me one without asking how I wanted my eggs (and they had 4 options!). The service overall wasn’t great and if one wanted to have something else (i.e. more toast) it would be wiser to just give up as nobody would come back to check on you. On the second morning, some guests had to remove used plates from the table in order to find space to sit.
Considering that the good reviews in this website are around one year old, it is clear that the quality dropped considerably...
I would not recommend neither go back...

We have stayed at many bed and breakfasts in the past both for leisure and in my professional capacity as a coach driver and i have never known one as clean and homely as this one. From our arrival to departure nothing was too much trouble for Steve and Kay. The whole establishment was spotless and the room was very comfortable with all the facilities you would expect from a top B and B. Steve and Kay are a very likeable friendly and helpful couple and they serve what is probably the best breakfast around. We were so glad we chose to stay with them and will do so again
