We stayed for one night over the weekend. Our room was a family sized room which was able to cater for 3 children and 2 adults. Included a bath which the kids thought was fab. Very friendly staff. Breakfast was fab. Caters for all tastes. Situated 10 mins from Eden project and many other family attractions in that part of Cornwall. Would highly recommend and would stay again.

Once again, one of our tri annual visits to Porth Avallen Hotel. The weather was kind so we were treated to the beautiful views across the bay from our bedroom and the dining area when we had breakfast and our evening meal. Staff very friendly. Room and food great.

We found this hotel online as we were traveling back towards Plymouth from Penzance. It was a great find, with great views of the sea and a superb restaurant. We liked it so much, we stayed two nites. It was quiet, no street noise as it was a private residence originally before coming a hotel. There is a path to walk down the hill into Charlestown for shopping and dinner, but we chose to eat in the hotel due to the great choices and delicious food. Price was very reasonable and plenty of parking was available. Rooms were clean and nicely furnished, but one of the best parts to our stay was the staff. All very friendly and helpful.

we spent a week here in the first week of September to avoid the crowds. We chose the bay window on the first floor for its view. It was more expensive but we considered this to be worth it as we would be there for a week. When we arrived we were given a verbal layout of the hotel and where to find our room. We normally find that someone will show us the room.
The room itself was spacious and well furnished with double aspect windows. The bathroom had a shower above the bath and was adequate.
The downsides of the bathroom were the bath had a small hole in the side and the sink was cracked and discoloured. There was also a serious issue with the water temperature. We queried the cold water on the first night and it was fixed. However it did not heat up until about 6.15 each evening.
The room itself was well furnished except that the heavy curtains did not fall well. The windows open out at the bottom and below is a bench for people to sit and see the view. However if they decide to smoke it wafts up straight into the room. On the occasion this happened it caused me some discomfort as i am not a smoker and made my eyes water.
The bed consisted of two beds put together which made the clothes somewhat troublesome .The quit cover was decidedly grubby. The room was not cleaned each day just tidied. When we were leaving and making sure nothing was left the mattress was exposed and it was seriously stained!!!
The breakfast was good and the staff helpful.
However for the price we paid for this room the standard was way below what would be reasonable.
Finally the view was very good
