“Charming place!”

Lovely room, real friendly staff, good food, (i can recommend the rivermussels!) great location. The bathroom however was very tiny and also a bit smelly. We loved staying here though! Charlestown is charming and there is lots to do in the surrounding area, like Eden's Project and the Lost Garden of Heligan.

I visit the Rashleigh every time I travel down to Cornwall and have also stayed there. Good food, Good ales, friendly efficient staff and a pleasant atmosphere must make it a place for you to visit and enjoy also in its beautiful and historic setting!

My fiancée and I spent a weekend here and felt that the rooms were lovely, stylish, contemporary and very clean, however a little bit of artistic licence had been used in the publicity. I had hoped that I was booking on the harbour edge overlooking the tall ships (as my fiancée loves sailing) however this was not the case. That being said it was a lovely bustling pub, with fairly average food, but the couple running the place seem to have endless energy and as one has to in this trade, they seem to work all hours. Our first night they were very understaffed in the restaurant and we were not terribly happy, but, these things happen. They DO have live bands, but, for us that was great and we ended up meeting some great local people!!

Room Tip: Chose your room carefully and ask about views, but eat in the restaurant down the road (The Wreckers...

We went here as a party of 8, not much vegetarian choice on the menu, and what I did have was not worth £ 11, had portabello mushroom burger and what I had was just a fried mushroom in a bun and some chips...bloody discusting... Expected a lot more for that price, as for dessert, my friend had lemon torte, which was just lemon cake. Very busy, could hear the chefs shouting in kitchen which I found very rude... This is the 3 time I have eaten here (not by choice ppls bday partys) and all times it has been very bad for value. The pub is great for a drink of a summers eveing in the beer garden, but that's about as far as it gets....

Large uninspiring modern restaurant, with very average pub food. Reasonable price. Gets quite a lot of large parties and has live music at weekends and holidays

My wife and I stayed in the Rashleigh arms so that we could visit the Lost Gardens of Heligon. My wife was unwell on the trip (280 miles) but as soon as we said about not booking a table for the evening meal we were told they would do whatever she wanted. Our room was excellent with a large comfortable bed really up todate shower etc. When we went down for the meal we were pleased to find they did meals for "smaller appitites". Food was very good , with wonderful service given by freindly staff. No problems at all and will book again if in the area for sure. Have recommended it to rest of family and friends.

I have been here many times and each time it just gets better, it's not fancy but the food is always good and the service seems genuine, last time I had a burger and my wife had the cod, both were fantastic and we will keep coming back, love it.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Rashleigh Arms was built in 1851 on the foundations of old clay cellars and was given its name after the creator of Charlestown Harbour, formerly West Polmear, Charles Rashleigh. It also boasts probably one of the only Grade II listed car parks in the country, basically the site of old coal storage yards, and is situated in a World Heritage Site. The Rashleigh is ideally positioned in central Cornwall and provides an excellent jump off point for lots of great attractions with the world famous Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan within five miles radius. We are also within sight of the historic Tall Ships and Charlestown harbour, a world heritage site and an attraction in itself. The Pub has moved with times and although over 150 years old boasts eight four star gold rated rooms, a public bar, popular with the locals that shows all live sport and has great bands every fortnight. Our lounge bar is fantastic for relaxing in with large leather sofas and armchairs with a touch of historic Charlestown. The restaurant is modern, open plan and serves locally sourced food from 12 - 9pm every day; and if the weather's good our patio and garden is the ideal place to spend a few hours or more! ... more   less
