“Truly dog friendly cottage”
Reviewed 19 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

We travelled with family to stay 16th & 17th Sept meeting up with our close family, who were staying nearby, to scatter my fathers ashes. We stayed in the Byre and were impressed by its location and cleanliness. Linda responded quickly to all correspondence and was there to meet us when we arrived. She also provided us with milk, bread and some delicious free range eggs as a welcome gift, oh and I mustn't forget the dog chew for our pet. The layout of the Byre was quirky and has a real country cottage feel to it, with three bathrooms and toilets there was never any queueing to get ready, even with two teenagers in the party. And as stated it is truly dog friendly with all our pug Chewbaccas needs catered for, with exercise areas outside the entrance, (on a lead), and a field adjacent where he could be exercised off of the lead. Towels provided for muddy paws, food bowls and a blanket on the sofa so your dog can sit with you on an evening. If you are looking to stay in the Liskeard area of Cornwall I can thoroughly recommend the Byre for consideration, and will probably at some point return for a holiday.

Liked best: Being made to feel welcome and pet orientated cottage
Liked least: Teenagers in the party could not get wifi. Although this is a bonus for me.

Ian and family telephoned prior to their arrival to ask if they could store their trailer earlier in the day before check in. Of course that was possible. Luckily for them the cottage was almost finished, and ian and family were able to move in, They wrote lovely comments inthe visitors book ,and when seeing them in the week it was obvious they were having a great time. The family left the cottage so clean and tidy, it was hard to imagine that they had spent the week there. Welcome to return anytime. What a pleasure to host.

“Stunning location and 100% want to return”
Reviewed 4 October 2015 for a stay in August 2015

I initially came across this location after looking for places to stay close to Liskeard as my Brother lives here. It is set in a stunning location away from the main road and up near Minions on the Moors.
The loft was clean, tidy and had everything you needed. The beds were comfortable. I stayed with my Dad and two children and they all loved it.
The weather was lovely on arrival and the kids were able to safely run around outside and play whilst we had a bbq. Unfortunately the weather turned but the loft was cosy comfortable and well enough equipped with games for such weather.
Am looking to rebook for next year :) Love it

“A fantastic location”

With two very sporty teenage sons we needed to choose somewhere that gave us lots of options. The proximity of the barns to Sibly Back lake meant what ever the weather the boys could Segway, sail , mountain bike or the ultimate teenage sport- Wake Board!
The barns also give you direct access to the moors for mountain biking and I really enjoyed hiring a horse from the owner Lyn and, after some instruction, heading out across the moors with her. Lyn and her husband were fantastic. With cream teas on offer and on request Lyn makes the most amazing pasties and pasty pies - a perfect mountain biking lunch!
We also had access to both coasts which were about 50 minutes away . We harbour jumped at Polkerris at high tide and lunched at Sam's on the beach ( make sure you book ). The North coast is great for surfing and we loved Treyarnon Bay.
The accommodation was very comfortable and much cosier than some places we've stayed in. We took our own BBQ, but with several great pubs within striking distance we ate out most of the time. This is a great destination for those who like to be active and who don't want to risk a week of flat surf! Thanks Lyn and Neil we had a fabulous week.

We have stayed here a few times now. We have always stayed in the Byre. The accommodation is extremely comfortable with all the amenities you could possibly need whilst on holiday. The views from these cottages are breathtaking. Ideally situated on the moors making it easy to explore both Cornwall and Devon.
Linda and Neil are perfect hosts. Nothing is too much trouble for them and we are always made to feel very welcome.

“A comfortable and relaxing retreat”
Reviewed 14 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We opted for this 'holiday let' following a recommendation from a colleague who lived locally.
We were not disappointed.

The accommodation was clean, well appointed and spacious.
These 'barns' have been tastefully converted but remain within keeping of their location and the surrounding area.
Views from our apartment were beautiful.
There are three apartments, each with its own exterior seating area.
There is ample parking.

Hopsland is ideally situated for exploring the surrounding moorlands and less than half an hour from the coast.
The owners, Linda & Neil, are friendly and full of local information.

Linda's cream teas are superb if you are lucky enough to taste them.

We cannot fault our stay at Hopsland and we will return
