The Old Smugglers Inn
Reviewed 6 August 2014 via mobile

Recently went for an evening meal here and was disgusted with what I witnessed. A family had turned up and their small was unfortunately was sick in the bar. The adults of the group moved her as quickly as possible to the toilet when a member of staff in front of the father I believe was reprimanded for not moving her quickly enough to the toilet. I was horrified. If you have children who suffer from any sort of travel sickness please do not come to this pub. I have never seen anyone who deals with people on a daily basis speak to someone like that before. If you have a family these things happen and even though the father apologised profusely and cleaned up after the child himself. This member of staff made it very clear how an inconvenience this was and made the family feel extremely uncomfortable. This family left quickly feeling embarrassed and i don't blame them!!

I myself have been put off of by this display of rudeness and will not return.

We took our Granddaughter here for her 5th birthday, for a treat....Kate & Matt are very welcoming, they let us put balloons & banners up, & also let us bring our own birthday cake in. The food was delicious, fresh & hot & lots of it. A very friendly & welcoming pub, with a lovely open fire making it feel so cosy. They have a quiz on a Sunday evening & we had so much fun. We highly recommend this pub to anyone that is looking for a friendly welcome, excellent food,& a relaxed atmosphere.

We recently had a family weekend away and stayed here. The Inn is very welcoming, warm and the staff and owners were super friendly. We had a lovely dinner, good size portions and all the dishes we had tasted delicious and fresh. The services was efficient and friendly. The rooms were cosy, clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend staying at the Old Smugglers Inn for value, comfort and great food and hopefully we will be back again soon!

Smugglers serves amazing food and massive portions which were cooked to perfection! It was so good that we decided to go there on our last night to finish the holiday off on a high! Reasonable prices, great service and really flexible aswell, our younger children selected off the kids menu but neither liked chips, they were more than happy to change to mash. All the food was all cooked perfectly to order, we had a rare and a medium rare and their meat was exactly as they wanted it. Nothing was too much trouble and the food came really quickly. We will definitely be going there when we are down on holiday again and I would recommend that everyone take the time for a meal there!

What a great place to stay while i was visiting my friend who lives locally.
The Smugglers inn has a welcoming feel and all the staff are friendly and chatty, which makes you feel comfortable and relaxed from the moment you walk in. The food is a cut above the rest regarding the quality and portion size. The room was comfortable with everything you needed including bottles of water, which i thought was a nice touch. The Inn is situated just 2 miles from Hayle with plenty of amities locally. I would recommend staying here if you are looking for a "home from home"

We visited here for dinner during our holiday. We liked it so much, that we came again.
My dad had the cod and chips and couldn't believe his eyes when he saw how large the fish was. When we returned for the second time, my parents shared the cod and chips between them. :-)
we cannot fault the food and the service. The staff were friendly and very helpful! If and when we come back to hayle, we'd certainly come again!

Cannot say much about a pub/restaurant that serves food like this place does.We regularly stay nearby in Hayle and frequent this lovely place. Our food was awesome. The waiting staff were helpful and not in your face either. They also have a huge car park. The smugglers inn is about 2 miles from Hayle heading towards Helston on the B3302.
