Thank you to The Star Inn for a warm welcome, very clean and comfortable room and a delicious breakfast this morning. We will definitely be returning in the future. Tucked away in the beautiful village St Erth and feels quintessentially Cornwall.

A lovely pub tucked away in a beautiful place. The stff were friendly and the prices good. The atmosphere was friendly and there was a nice sense of community there, maybe because it's so small. The portions were large and nicely cooked. Great place.

We stayed for two nights at this lovely friendly pub. I was amazed to be offered a selection of five dishes, that were both vegetarian and gluten free, that the chef could make freshly for me. There was a good basic menu and a wide selection of specials on offer, with a "smaller portions menu" for children or people with small appetites. Everything was cooked freshly, and portions were generous.
The whole place is spotlessly clean, and the room we had was very comfortably furnished and spacious, with a good supply of toiletries and tea and coffee.
There is a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, with regular locals in the bar, and a good variety of beer and cider on offer. There is a sunny, enclosed garden with seating, which is ideal for children.
This is a perfect spot to stay, with easy access to coastal towns such as St Ives, via the train service from St Erth,

Room Tip: Only two rooms, both recently refurbished.

The Star was quite busy on this Saturday lunchtime. We received a warm welcome, there was a good atmosphere, and everyone was pleasant. There was a bit of a wait for the food, but our patience was well-rewarded. The fare was excellent, with man-size helpings (we knew we'd been in a fight!) which certainly weren't expensive. They keep a good pint there, too.
However, after our plates had been cleared away we waited . . . . and waited . . . . but strangely nobody came to ask if we wanted puddings. We didn't notice any puddings on the menu, and there were none on the specials board, so we would have had to be told what was on offer. While we ordered the mains at the bar it is, in our experience, normal to be asked about puddings once the table has been cleared. The answer would have been “yes”, so £20 or so could have been added to our bill. Ah, well.
Will we return? I wouldn't be surprised.
I would suggest that the landlord gets on to Tripadvisor to correct the address shown. According to the website the Star is at St Erth Praze. It's not – it's in the village of St Erth. They're different places.
