“Great pub!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 September 2013

Just spent a week in the village and had a couple of meals here, as well as popping in for a just a drink most days. The atmosphere is really good and the staff are lovely. The food was great and the beer and cider is excellent. It's really clean and the locals are friendly. Lovely pub to visit.

We have been coming to St Keverne for the occasional night out for a while and would usually have gone to this pubs competition as 12-18 months ago the then owners had turned it back to a great village local. Certainly not now. See my review of The Three Tuns.

After making the trip and deciding not to go to The Three Tuns I wandered over to the White Hart to be more than pleasantly surprised by what I found. A really friendly atmosphere bustling with locals and visitors alike and a good range of drinks and food.

I noted the specials board with local freshly caught fish advertised and decided to splurge. I was not disappointed. Quick and polite table service, well presented and great taste. We decided to stay a while and participate (with some encouragement from the locals) in a few games of pool which I lost, should have know better.

More than happy to return and nice to see a real village local pub with beautiful hanging flowers and a welcoming atmosphere, as opposed to their competition.

We love this pub and visit every year but it's gone downhill. Food is now awful.

The pizza was a particular low.

Take one asda smart price cardboard base, shlop on some tomato puree and a bit of cheese and warm only slightly.

Unfortunately everything is microwaved nothing prepared fresh and it's all cheap meat. Can't even cook chips.

Not sure if we'll go back next year.

l am shocked to read this review and very sorry if Miss Bethany Ayres genuinely felt this way about our excellent pub and fantastic food.
I would offer the following comments which I hope may clarify the facts of this matter. Firstly, all of our food is cooked fresh using the finest ingredients, locally sourced as much as possible and certainly not from any supermarket and that goes for pizza bases too! Our chef is top class and always available to customers for either praise or concerns,as are the rest of the management and staff. We are only to eager to please our valued customers so will always listen to, and take on board, any suggestions, complaint or compliment. That is why we have been trading so successfully here for ten years now.
At the time of your visit you dined with 60 other guests who were all delighted with their food, service and experience (indeed,a table of 11 came back the following night) and took the time to tell us that. Maybe if your food had actually been eaten you could have made a more valued assesment, and perhaps it would have been better if you had actually spoken to our staff and told them that you were walking out without even paying for the drinks you had!
We do hope that you do return to us again on a future visit and we will be delighted to show you our kitchen and introduce you to our chef who will prove to you that ALL our customers are valued and you are no exception

After stumbling across this pub by pure accident my only regret was not going back every day.The sunday dinner we had was fantastic to say the least. The barman was friendly and a real credit to his profession. We sat outside, all of us including our dogs, again a dog friendly pub,and all ordered the roast beef dinner. The beef was great and the roast potatoes were the best i have ever tasted! The landlord said he had just got a new chef.Well keep up the good work mate and thank you for feeding us with the best food we have had in years. Also thanks to the waitress who was also very helpful and friendly too.Visited August 18th 2013.

We stayed for 7 nights in a converted barn behind the main pub, very clean and tidy. The staff were fantastic, made you feel that you were in "your local". The breakfasts were fantastic, with a good choice, and the evening meals were superb as well, with a new chef just taken over, who was still using the "old" menu, but they were in the process of updating the menu, may be with more choice, every meal was cooked superbly, with "specials" updated daily, and "deal" nights ( pizza night, steak night etc).
Around the square there were the local convenience store, newsagent and post office (all very helpful with directions etc).
All in all, highly recommended.
