Sheila was very caring and friendly. She knew we had made a long journey to the lizard and welcomed us with a pot of tea and cakes. Breakfast was incredible - there was toast, traditional English breakfast (even a vegetarian option), and a fruit salad as a starter. I've never eaten such a huge fruit salad before, and the smoked salmon was the best I've ever tasted! :)

The house was very exquisitely decorated, and there were even books we could borrow. I spent half a day reading in the lounge instead of heading out. The bedroom was very lovely and there was sufficient storage space. The bathroom was very clean and towels were provided, along with bath necessities like shampoo, shower gel, body soap, and lotion. A hair dryer (the cutest hair dryer I've ever seen) was also provided in one of the bed side tables.

Penmenner house was located right at the end of Penmenner road, and right outside it is a postbox (how convenient!) and a public footpath/public bridleway. So it was easier to get to the coastal area from there. Although it was located about three mins away from town, we only went into town for a bit but spent more time at the coastal area instead.

All in all, it was such a fantastic place. Definitely try contacting Sheila if you're heading to the Lizard Point. You won't regret making the journey there.

This is an excellent location, just out of town, overlooking the lighthouse and with three footpaths at your doorstep. A very competitive rate for such a stylish, spacious room.

Also, breakfast is gorgeous and plentiful with multiple options and luscious fresh summer fruit salad!

Sheila is extremely kind and accommodating, and can give great assistance and guidance with only minimal prior arrangements.

We arrived at 1545 hours and realised that check in is only from 1600 hours so the door was locked. Guests came in and out but we had to wait outside.

They informed us that the owner was out and should be back soon. Fifteen minutes later, finally a young girl named Tula came to open the door for us but she could not find the key! We helped searched high and low with her in the porch and she was told it would be near a certain place. It was another fifteen minutes before all was sorted out when we went through with the owner on our mobile on the door codes.

At night time, we had a query. Knocked at three different doors and had to call the owner on her mobile as we could not locate her.

Lovely house, looks homely. Huge staircase. We had to lug our luggage up the stairs to the first floor to the Marconi Room. I forgot to say that there are a few steps up to the main entrance as well, so if you can't manage your suitcase and you don't have a man with you, travel light. Views of the sea with the lighthouse. A couple of horses grazing on the grass opposite our window.

The bedroom is not small but by no means large. There are two wicker chairs to sit on. The toilet seat has wooden seat but is rather painful on the rear if you rest too long. Artwork on the walls are more of a Middle Eastern type.

A higher wattage for the bedside light would be ideal for reading. The windowless bathroom has an extractor fan, however, there remains a slight dampness within. Throughout the night, there will be a gurgling noise from the radiators. Water drainage required perhaps.

Breakfast is only from 0815 to 0900 hours. For fruit juice, it’s only orange juice and no other juices available but generous amount of breakfast. We had generous scrambled eggs with beautiful pieces of salmon. Pity about the mushrooms. It tasted as if it was just cooked in water with no seasoning.

Don’t forget, payment is only by cash or cheque. We had to go into the village for cash.

Big thanks to Sheila for a wonderful weekend 27-29 Sept. Looked forward to so much for my 50th birthday, my husband could not have chosen a more perfect place. Sheila's beautiful home offered comfort along with friendly, helpful service and great cat:) The food was delicious; I can't praise enough. Now just got to sort out when we can go again. I love The Lizard anyway and our stay at Penmenner just adds to my great memories. Thanks Sheila.

This is a perfect place to stay and great value for money. The room décor was tasteful and the view into the ocean was even better. Surprised that this B&B was dog friendly as it was so clean and tidy. The owner was very welcoming and met our every need. The breakfast was extremely filling due to so much choice, good quality and most importantly delicious. Highly recommend this B&B.
