Very friendly welcome ,fabulous views ,this hotel is so very lovely ,if you don't want all mod cons and are prepared to be somewhere that has not galloped away with the times this is the place. The lounge is quiet and restful just the ticking of a Grandfather clock in the corner while you drink tea and totally chill. The staff are attentive and friendly ,rooms are clean and spacious.Lots of lovely walks and good food.Well worth the visit.Breakfast over looking the sea was just amazing .

Room Tip: If you sleep lightly them maybe a room without seaview is best as the lighthouse does tend to light...

We have just held a 90th birthday party for my father at the Housel Bay Hotel. The weather was perfect, the staff were fantastic and helped us in every way possible. Food was delicious and we really enjoyed our couple of days staying at the hotel. Thank you Housel Bay!

We visited Housel Bay Hotel back In January, least to say the weather on this particular day was sunny!!

The staff were very quick in getting our drinks which was fantastic, and also the food which arrived with our order was outstanding! We ordered one of the 'Housel Bay classics' Beefburger, needless to say it was the biggest burger i have seen in my life - with everything you could think of.
My husband had the Sirloin steak along with the stilton sauce, he said it was beautiful.

Have not stayed overnight here yet, but we do plan to in the future! keep up the good work guys.

We returned to Housel Bay after seven years, and were relieved to find that it hasn't been completely refurbished! although there has been some alteration and decoration. The owners, in our opinion, have updated the right things and left the right things, giving a perfect blend of comfort and cleanliness with quirkiness and character. There is so much of interest to look at on the walls and all around.

Alfred went out of his way to find us a socket where we could charge up our electric car overnight, which was immensely helpful.

Our sea view was absolutely superb, and we spent several hours sitting in the bay window watching the dramatic waves, and jackdaws and gulls performing aerobatics. Our room was clean and comfortable, with nice comfy bucket chairs, wooden floorboards and a fabulously large and comfortable bed.

Our only disappointment was that returning on Sunday tired and hungry from a big walk, we were anticipating a biscuit with tea in our room, a roaring fire downstairs, nibbles on the bar, and our second choice from the regular menu - but none of these materialised! But it was only us in, and we probably shouldn't have assumed that the fire would be lit just for us. If the evenings had happened the other way round, we would probably have been delighted!

This is a very good hotel and we hope to return before too long - but we would just check first that we're not the only ones staying. We had an off-peak dinner, bed and breakfast rate, which we thought was good value for such a wonderful location.

Room Tip: A sea view room with a bay window is what we will be dreaming about till we return - I think there a...

We spent New Year's Eve at the hotel. The weather was dreadful, so we chilled in the lounge rather than taking a walk. The buffet supper was really well thought out and very tasty. There was a disco for those who were interested. At midnight there was a break in the weather and we were treated to a truly professional fireworks display. The following day we watched the sea as we had breakfast and went home relaxed and it was a great start to the New Year. Would go again and would recommend. Although our room was quite small for a double (8) we had everything we needed and because you can use the lounge or bar area to relax it didn't matter if the room was slightly on the small side.

Room Tip: A sea view is great in the summer but in the winter the wind blowing off the sea can make it a bit n...

Had two fantastic days based at housel bay hotel. Beautiful room, 19 I think, with the most breathtaking views over the garden and the bay itself.
Ate in the restaurant both nights and it was very good.
Staff were very friendly, chatty and professional.
The hotel is not modern by any means, thats why I booked it. Why go to a beautiful old building and expect any different.
Overall a lovely stay, beautiful views and friendly owner and team.
Would definitely return!

After a laps of almost fourty years, I re visted this landmark of a hotel and was more than amazed at how little had changed. I mean this in a good sense , because obviously the hotel has had new owner who has sympathetcally bought it up to 2013 standards, and yet by furnishing with his own interesting memorobilia and furnishings, the place feels homely. Staff are friendly and helpful, especially Mia, and Robert, who is a fountain of knowledge about the Lizard.
Really well cooked and interesting food from Canadian Italian Chef Alberto, together with a modest but interesting Wine list ,compliment one of the most stunning dining views in England.
My wife and I stayed here very comfortably for 4 nights and can vouch that the rooms are simple but cosy and spotlessly clean, and to cap it all they serve one of the best Cornish cream teas I have tasted with fresly baked scones and real tea in a tea pot. Both of us are looking forward to a return visit.

Room Tip: Do choose a sea view, you won't regret it.
