“Fantastic as always”

We had another wonderful trip in August, this b&b continues to be our favourite. See my previous reviews really, nothing has changed, it's still the best b&b we've ever been to. Austin and Linda are always so friendly and welcoming, the breakfasts are amazing, the room is lovely and always spotlessly clean. We will continue coming back to the Lizard for the foreseeable future as it's one of the most wonderful places in the world, and we wouldn't ever stay anywhere else.

We have been spending 8 - 10 days at the Caerthillian for 10 years now during the summer. We love Lizard - such lovely places to walk and ideal as a base for exploring this magical place. This is a Victorian house with lots of character, the rooms are bright and airy and spotlessly clean - a must for us. Generous hospitality tray and lovely soft white towels every day. Lots of hot water and drinking water quality is great - no need to buy bottled water!
Brilliant breakfast, whatever your taste and much choice.
Austin, Linda and family are the perfect hosts, very friendly and helpful; we feel so comfortable around them - home from home without the work!
Excellent value for money and we believe, best rates in the village. We have no hesitation in recommending the Caerthillian.

We stayed at this b&b during our walking holiday on the Lizard. The location of this place is great, only a short distance fromthe official path (and you can even cut a corner if you use different footpaths).
Austin, the owner, is very welcoming and was also one of the few owners who confirmed our telephone booking via email - great to reduce the stress levels!
The b&b is in a lovely old Victorian building and as a previous reviewer mentioned: if you want modern, this is not for you. However, everything was very well maintained and clean and we got a good nights sleep. Breakfast is served in the entrance hall and was very tasty.
I would have given this place 5 stars except for a few minor niggles:
When we arrived, Austin took our shoes and stored them in the laundry room. Unfortunately, they were still just as wet in the morning as they had been at night. Clearly, if you are walking on a sunny day, this wouldn't be an issue.
Our bathroom was carpeted - personal preference, but I am not a fan (carpet was new and very clean).
No wifi reception which I missed a bit since in general the mobile receptin in this part of the world is dodgy to say the least.
All in all, I would definitely recommend this place - any small niggle was made up for by the friendly owner.

We have stayed here many times, usually for 2-4 nights but decided on a longer stay this time. The rooms are great, clean with plenty of space and everything you need is provided. The breakfasts are splendid with lots of different things provided. The location is convenient for coastal walks or as a base to explore the Lizard peninsular or the many other local attractions. Austin and Linda are very friendly and extremely helpful and are always willing to provide advice (about anything) if you need it. We found this visit very restful and relaxing, just what we needed to recharge our batteries. I would highly recommend The Caerthillian if you are planning a visit to Cornwall.

Room Tip: I personally like room 4 as it is very light and airy as it is located on the corner and has windows...

Having stayed in the Caerthillian for five times, normaly in May/june. The owners, Austin and Linda, even the whole family, are really wonderful hosts, very helpful and friendly. Austin`s breakfest and Linda`s soft bedlinnen, there is nothing to beat it.The bathrooms got a bathtub. That is very comfortable. This guesthouse is a wonderful home for walkers and mobile travellers as well.

Room Tip: First Floor Nr. 3

My husband and I were lucky enough to spend a couple of days in Lizard and choose Caerthillian as our place to stay having seen such good reviews on Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed. Our room (3) was bright with a limited view of Kynace Cove. It was warm and very comfortable. Austin was extremely friendly and proposed a few walks for us to do. We walked from Lizard to Cagwith along the coast and back again. Our round trip was about 5 hours.

The breakfast was delicious and especially the sausages. I am hungry just thinking about it.

Caerthillian is ideally located in the centre of the village and only a step away from lovely restaurants and pubs.

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: Room 3 for a view
