Like many we stayed for two nights as we were attending a wedding at the Fort and had come some distance. Luckily my brother , who had flown in from Australia for the occasion was also able to stay at the cottage. From the outset the hospitality was outstanding. John even was kind enough to cool down our drinks. The sun was out and the views were stunning. Rooms clean, bright and a particularly spacious bathroom. John's breakfast left nothing to want. The vehicle access to the cottage is quite steep so be prepared, but not put off. The walk to the fort from and to the cottage is only a few minutes but suggest flat shoes and a torch and care in the wet. We can highly recommend Polhawn Cottage and would go back at any time.

We stayed two nights whilst in the area for a wedding at the Fort next door. Fantastic location overlooking the sea, and very friendly and helpful owners. We loved the resident cat and dog, and breakfast was excellent. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Thank you.

My daughter and I were visiting with barely 30 hours before our ferry to France. She had been studying for the term in London and I wanted to get her out of the city to enjoy one of my favorite parts of the UK - Cornwall. Polhawn Cottage is perched high on a cliff above the sea at the far south eastern end of "forgotten Cornwall". We were welcomed to a bright, well furnished twin room with all the amenities. I think we were the only guests and felt very at home. Carolyn kindly recommended a walk (hike) west to Rame Head - breathtaking just before sunset (both in terms of the scenery and my exertion level...do Zumba for at least a month before coming back). Then she drove us into the village for supper and we caught a taxi back. If I had to say what I liked least the taxi fares to/from Plymouth were pricey. This location would be much better enjoyed with a car. There are rental car sites near the train station. We slept very well with the sound of the sea and John cooked us a lovely English breakfast to order. Later he loaned us walking sticks and advised us on the coast path to the West, how to get down to the beach, and where to get lunch before starting home. Scuttle, a beautiful sleek black cat, curled on my bed for a time and Bertie the dog played happily while we enjoyed our breakfast on the sunporch. Thanks to Carolyn and John our short stay was much more than I hoped. Now my hope is to come back and spend more time at Polhawn Cottage.

The owners of this beautiful cottage are so friendly and welcoming! Stayed as part of a winter Wedding at the nearby Polhawn fort. Breakfast was fantastic too! Really enjoyed our stay and cannot wait to return to this amazing part of the UK.

My husband stayed here the night before our wedding and we had friends in the other rooms for the weekend. Everyone said how wonderful it was and that John and Carolyn were the perfect hosts and extremely helpful. They even did extra breakfasts on the day of the wedding for which we were very grateful. Would highly recommend this lovely place!

This B&B is the complete package - great rooms, amazing scenery, fabulous breakfast and hospitable hosts...with a lovely cat and dog, too.

Even a weekend of rubbish weather couldn't dampen our enjoyment of the place. I'd highly recommend....but make sure your car is capable of getting up a rather steep driveway in the mud (ours struggled, but is very old!).
