Description: The Quarterdeck Restaurant is located at The Nare Hotel on Cornwall's Roseland Peninsula. With spectacular sea views over Gerrans Bay, it is the perfect place to meet family and friends for a relaxed lunch or stylish evening meal. The Quarterdeck has a classical yachting décor, sheltered terrace and a reputation for fabulous food made with the finest local ingredients. We have always been a big supporter of West Country farmers and specialise in locally reared beef and the freshest of seafood caught from waters almost on the doorstep. The Nare's wine cellar is extensive with wines from all round the world selected and laid down by Toby Ashworth, proprietor.

We first went to this restaurant at The Nare Hotel near St Mawes Cornwall last year, and were so impressed that we returned again this year accompanied with 4 friends. We were not disappointed, and the weather was so good that we sat outside on the Quarterdeck. It was just like being on holiday on the Amalfi Coast in Italy with a fantastic view overlooking the sea. Recommend that you try and visit when weather is sunny and sit outside to capture the best ambiance. Between us we ordered the following from the lunch menu - local crab sandwich, fresh local caught fish and hand cut chips, scallop salad, prawn/crayfish salad, and rare rabbit (a toasted cheese, tomato and bacon on bread delight). Although slightly expensive, the quality of the food and service could not be faulted, and we will certainly return again next year. One slight comment was regarding the table. This was unstable partly due to worn joints rather than an uneven surface and it took 6 of us to put our feet on the feet to stop it rocking.

Midweek lunch and as a bit of a treat we chose The Quarterdeck. Stunning views and it's probably nearly a year since our last visit. Delicious pineapple and soda, very refreshing. Large plate of mussels in lots of wine and cream sauce, delicious, other half had battered cod and chips ... he says it was good.
Great staff, nicely attentive. I was offered more bread for my mussels sauce. We moved to lounge area soft seating for great big cafetiere of coffee (well done). Very comfortable but a bit run down looking.
Loos nice and clean, both soap dispensers a bit wobbly/broken?
Not quite as sharp looking as we remembered.
Disappointed not to be allowed use of wi-fi - only for residents but lovely young man in hotel reception did excellent job of looking up a phone number for us.
Well done. Back soon we hope.

Visited for Lunch on Father's day. Too late to order from a la carte lunch menu but were able to order crab sandwiches, which although expensive, were superb. This is a lovely 4* hotel in a beautiful setting so be prepared to pay 4* prices. You wont be disappointed. We loved it.

We visited the Quarterdeck at the Nare Hotel on a Saturday night for a birthday treat.
Overall, it was a lovely evening. The setting is superb, with our window seat giving beautiful views towards Nare Head.
The pre dinner lounge area, is comfy and informal with the same great views. There is also a lovely outdoor terrace when the weather is less Cornish!
The staff are all excellent, very efficient and professional as you would expect in such a place.
The dining room is very pleasant and well laid out and nicely decorated.
Now for the food. We had sea bass and a pork dish which was beautifully cooked and tasted superb. The desserts were also very good.
The only issue was quantity. Now, I know you don't get large quantities with this sort of cuisine, but these were the smallest main courses we had ever eaten. The main ingredient(fish, meat) was acceptable, but there was very, very little of anything else to accompany it.
Why would that be? The cost of some vegetables and potato is minimal and it would have been fine then. For the price paid, there are many other restaurants in Cornwall where you will get the same high quality food and service but not leave you still feeling hungry.
Such a shame, as it would have been near perfect with a little more.

Anyone wishing to celebrate a special occasion will find the Quarterdeck very appropriate and a great setting with its sailing theme. The food "nouvelle cuisine" did offer smaller portions than we are used to but the taste was mindblowing and the service by their very professional Cornish and Hungarian waiters was fantastic. Very enjoyable dinner last Easter Sunday evening.
