Green Bay Lodge
Reviewed 2 September 2013

It's been our second time at the Green Bay Lodge and it was as amazing as the first! This beautiful tranquil spot with the kindest hosts, Klaus and Karen, invites you to just relax. The amazing garden with its sun chairs and access to the clear lake for swimming or kayaking/ canoeing, the sunset cruise with Klaus - you would never have to leave ( and don't want to)... But it's also central enough to access the Cup & Saucer Trail in minutes and just a short drive to attractions like the Bridal Veil Falls. Well, anything is a short drive on Manitoulin Island anyway.
We are planning to come back every year!

Room Tip: All five apartments are great. It's more a budget question that'll help you choose.

This resort is a bit off the beaten path, but if you don't mind driving the extra mile or two out of town, it's well worth the beautiful and peaceful setting! Clause and Karen, the owners, have made a magical place out of time, set on the lake it's landscaped with flowers and plants that blend with and enhance the natural setting. It's quiet and clean with the most amazing lakeside view. The lodge offers a dock and lakeside chaise lounges for reading or sunning yourself, swimming in the lake, canoes for boating, and nearby hiking trails. On the cooler nights Clause sometimes builds a bonfire, which everyone is welcome to attend. So, there's an opportunity to be social if you like, but they leave you to your privacy if you don't. The Green Bay Lodge is ideal!

Room Tip: Choose one of the the two rooms offered in the Chalet. They're far superior and have a beautiful...

A lovely setting with kind and accommodating hosts. I would absolutely recommend that one book the chalet rooms. They are open and breezy with beautiful views. The property is a bit isolated but that accounts for its peacefulness.

Room Tip: Go for the chalet!

I feel that I made a fantastic choice for this year family vacation. It is a beautiful place. And what makes it so is not only the location and the surrounding but Klaus and Karen who are a wonderful host. Every guest is treated as family member and you feel this as soon as you arrive. It is so peaceful and scenic. My family enjoyed every moment of our stay. Whether you want to see the Island or just stay at the lodge you would find enjoyment in both. Its a home away from home. We are already making plans to go back next year but this time hopefully for more than a week.

This place should be on your list. Beautiful setting on Lake Manitou. Rooms are extremely clean and comfortable. The yards slope down to the lake, passing by tiered rock gardens, and decorated by cedar-wood artworks. Close to the hiking trails at Cup & Saucer. Great base lodge for numerous biking routes of Manitoulin. Breakfast on the porch was a real treat. Klaus and Karen are wonderful hosts.
The drive down the gravel lane is quite long, but well worth the time it takes.

Room Tip: Rooms in the lodge are small but great. All have a full view of the lake with great kitchen, and coo...

This place was one of the highlights of our honeymoon - it's quiet, beautiful, a great place to explore the island, with friendly and welcoming hosts. We stayed in the studio (clean, fully equipped and private bbq) with balcony, that allowed for beautiful sunset views over lake Manitou. Canoe rental for a few dollars, great campfires and a delicious breakfast in the morning. Just bring some food with you (so you don't have to drive all the way back to the supermarket upon arrival, like we did) and arrive before dark to navigate the trail to the lodge.

If you want to step away from your busy life for a while come to Green Bay Lodge! It is the perfect get-away on Manitoulin Island. Located in the heart of the Island at Lake Manitou it offers everything you need whether you travel as a couple or with family or friends. It is conveniently located to explore the island AND you can find serenity in the beautiful garden, an oasis with access to the lake. Rooms are gorgeous, breakfast is amazing and it all comes together thanks to Karen and Klaus, the most wonderful hosts! Don't miss out on an evening boat tour on the lake with Klaus...
Stay for next year already booked! I will never go elsewhere on Manitoulin Island!
