As part of an cross country motorcycle ride we found ourselves hunting for lodging on Manitoulin Island. Nothing in Little Current or the surrounding area met our expectations so we started cruising around. Small signs indicated that some place called Green Bay Lodge was somewhere in the area. It took some hunting and the help of a local to find the gate.. uh oh, gravel road, not the best for a big Harley Davidson touring bike. It was late and we were out of options so on we went. We are so grateful that we did. What a treasure!!
We arrived unannounced with no reservation but Klaus and Karen welcomed us warmly. Karen even provided an impromptu dinner when she learned that we had not eaten. The whole experience was nothing short of magic. Uber-clean rooms, delicious breakfast, gorgeous views, spectacular sunsets, lovely peace and quiet. We could go on and on.
Here's a tip if you are riding a motorcycle. As you ride along the gravel road you will come to a fork that indicates Green Bay Lodge somewhat straight ahead and "Motorcycles and Bicycles" to the right. Believe the sign and go to the right! It still takes you to the lodge and is MUCH easier to traverse than the other route. Ask me how I know :-)
