there's an intangable in the bay, a quality the people of wikki will not divulge.
there's a mystery, a cultural truth, and an evolutionary miracle recorded on the beaches and in the land, water and culture of this seemingly sparse, but truly rich place.

the peabody museum in new haven ct. has a key to this on display in it's collection.

there is a great truth at your fingertips here, if youy are open to it.

Manitowaning Lodge is a little golden nugget on the south east end of Manitoulin Island. Unfortunately it has been closed now for several years. Hopefully someone will scoop this place up and have it up and running again.

Excellent resort, great food... TV's, phones and faxes is not what this resort is about. it is about a 5 star resort in the wilderness of Northern Ontario.

  • Liked — 5 star comfort in the middle of the wilderness
  • Disliked — nothing

We stayed here for one night and what a big rip off! It is mutton dressed as lamb and very expensive. We stayed in the cheapest room which cost $135 CDN per person. Sure that includes a meal which was just mediocre - nothing spectacular. But the room had no television, no air conditioning, and thin walls as we heard the guy next door snorring all night long. The room was old and shabby but the beds were comfortable. I found a nut shell on the floor under the night table so I guess they don't vacuum that well. The public areas (reception, bar, and dining room) were nicely decorated but I can't say the same for the room. We were walk ins at around 5pm at night and had just had a big meal. We asked if they could give us the room without the meal and they said 'no' and then we asked if they could give us a late check in rate and they said no and that some people arrive at 12 at night. So do those people have to pay for a dinner that they didn't even eat? Probably not!! The dock and beach area is a bit shabby and when we wanted to go canoeing at 7am, the young employee who helped us with the canoe was less than enthusiastic. Upon check out, after a bottle of wine and a couple bottles of water were added from the previous nights' dinner and all the taxes, our bill came to about $400 CDN. A little much for little more than a dressed up, shabby old fishing/hunting lodge.
