We went to Town for dinner. They only have a degustation menu in the evening. The food was amazing. They served cured salmon as the second course and it was exceptional- this was followed by a prawn dish, fish, beef and two deserts. Each course was amazing because the quality of food and flavours. Well done to the chef. I think they need to improve the service it was brusque not welcoming.

TOWN is split between a cafe open for brunch/lunch downstairs and an upstairs degustation restaurant on Friday and Saturday nights.

Owner chefs Karl and Katrina Kanetani live their passion and fine food is their life, their dedication has earned them a Chefs Hat year after year. Karl's food has a pared-down Asian aesthetic influenced no doubt by his time at Tetsuyas in Sydney, while Katrina's sings with the richness of europe where she refined her brilliant dessert skills with the likes of Jaques Raymond, Gordon Ramsay and Pierre Marco White. This combination of skills creates food at once delicate and refined, subtle and full-flavoured and always exquisitely presented to the table. Matched with the wines selected, the degustation makes for an outstanding food experience.

Katrina's baking love can also be sampled in the cafe downstairs (with an excellent coffee) along with soup, panini, a selection of deliciously nourishing salads plus specials for lunch.

Popped in for brunch and chose simply, coffee, tea, bacon/egg rolls. Loved the food, loved the service, loved the vibe. Very keen to go back for dinner in the restaurant proper. Very cool and very nice.

We're locals and don't go out to dine much because the Byron area is so touristy; BUT, we will now. This place is an absolute gem! The degustation is the best meal I've had in a very long time and is very good value; not one dish disappointed.
The matching wines were generally really good but a couple of mis-steps; the Leeuwin riesling was underwhelming, given Australian riesling is so good, a wine from Clare/Porongorups WA with some age would have better suited. Similarly, the McLaren Vale shiraz was too 'raw' for the beautiful beef fillet; maybe a fuller pinot with a little age. Quibbles though, fantastic night, thanks. Its a shame the poor reviews on Tripadvisor relate to the cafe because upstairs dining is as good as anything in Australia

We headed here for lunch in the cafe. Greeting and seating was good, and then had to wait a while to order. Another wait for meals and the waitress forgot my partner's beer which he didn't get until after the meals arrived. He had the Reuben open sandwich which he said was ok. I had the chicken pie- a large slice of unappetising thick grey sludge containing mushrooms and very little chicken. The pastry was so dry I couldn't cut it. The accompanying "salad" was mixed leaves only with a very salty dressing. Didn't want to stay for desserts after this.
