Gardens and pool area pleasant but rooms outdated, old, worn and in need of some tlc. Electrical cords and power boards looked suspect. Nothing antique about the uncomfortable couch. Definitely not worth $145 a night for a single person. No meals on offer. Gates locked at night and no information provided about getting in or out after dark. The room I was located had not been cleaned and I requested another room which was no problem.

Stayed: October 2015

This would be one of the worst motels I've ever stayed in. It was dark, the furniture was terrible and it was way overpriced. One positive was the bed was comfortable and the sheets were good quality.

This place was a very pleasant suprise. I was travelling on business and had no idea what was booked for me and was really happy with what I discovered. Don't expect a stock standard motel room with a minibar fridge in the corner and a small side table tucked behind the sterile white bed with the brown overlay.

Rather walk back in time into a circa 1800's cottage complete with antique furniture, ornaments, original floorboards and even a four post bed. If you appreciate heritage buildings and are after a unique experience give this hotel a go. Most of the environment was original and had been restored so very impressive. My room also had a cast iron type bath with claw leg feet sitting on a timber floor board - very nice.

Don't worry there is an LCD TV, fridge and air conditioning in the room along with a pool out the back if you need a swim. The property is secure along with your vehicle and there is a small club / restaraunt across the road within walking distance.

Definetely worth staying at this hotel if you are in Bourke and after a special and unique experience.

We were very pleasantly surprised to find this little gem in Bourke. The Bourke Riverside Motel was created from the 135 year old Telegraph Hotel, and drips history and class of a bygone era (quality furniture and antiques, writing desk, high ceilings, etc). The rooms we stayed in were big and comfortable with all the modern mod-cons (aircon, TV, fridge, heating, etc), so our stay was very relaxing.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back are good in winter as they are smaller and easier to heat

Here be dragons, we were mislead by the motel web site and the positive recent Tripadvisor reviews, the negative ones below better reflect our response to this property.

Contrary to the assertion on the motel's web site this is far short of being 'the Outback’s finest accommodation'. We stayed in Suite 16 which their web site claims 'has a lovely new bathroom'. It is not new and it isn't lovely, It does however have a fine crop of mould. The so called 2nd bedroom is a vestibule to the bathroom through which everyone has to pass to use the facilities, it might work for a couple with a young child. The suite has a glass entry door and is brightly illuminated all night long by the security lights so don't plan on a good night's sleep. To claim the room has 'quality furniture and antiques' is a flight of fantasy. The settee in this suite is neither antique nor quality just old and tired.

Yes the premises has a history but the room was so bad that we left after one night despite paying for two.

Room Tip: Good luck, just don't believe what they say on their web site
