Great guest house, met some nice overseas travellers. Clean and well kept I would go back for sure. Only downfall I would have liked a tv and a bar fridge in the room. We got free use of bikes instead that was great for the 2 k ride to town.

rooms are okay, design is done well and it gives you a home feeling very soon after arrival. all made of wood and painted white. spacious living room and terrace for all guest to share. you meet different people all the time and it is a good place to exchange experiences and get ready for the upcoming trips. owners are welcoming and very friendly. Peter stays often during evenings and is a good talk about everything, Charlotte is helpful and gave some great travel advise.
Only disadvantage is the location, it is a bit far from the center. no problem for one evening to walk in and walk back, but each evening you will think twice. They offer bikes to rent for free to go downtown, we just never used them.
would go again

Room Tip: they have one room with own bathroom, but that faces the street and sometimes there is lot of traffi...

Ok, I may be being a bit harsh about Byron since we go back pretty regularly for a dose of warm water and the fabulous French patisserie at L'ultime. Our obsession with these two aspects of the place enable us to overlook the adolescent revelers and would-be adolescent decrepitudes that tend to dominate the place in holiday periods, and Byron Springs certainly seems to help with that. It's a pretty genteel little white weatherboard beach house tucked away at the end of town. If you are without transport this may not be the place for you unless you don't mind walking a fair bit, or you can borrow the complimentary bikes if you are quick enough to get them!
The owner, Peter, certainly has his niche there. He's a worldly, well traveled and cultivated fellow and is happy to engage with his guests, making you feel really like a guest, not just a tenant. He also has a real love for the area and has made an effort to give guests information about the things they can do, including visiting the lesser visited national park and beach just nearby the guesthouse.
Practical info: Most rooms are without ensuite, meaning you share two little bathrooms that open off the decked area at the back. It is quite nice the way they open directly to the outdoors, and it allows the fresh air to get in and air them out after a hot shower pretty quickly. We found them to be quite well kept, with the cooperation of the guests, and not as much of a drag as we anticipated. Sometimes there was a little queuing for the shower or toilet but that was rare (we stayed 4 nights). If you are a splasher, the floor can be dried off after you shower with a foot towel, which you then put in the washing bag outside. (A few extra foot towels could sometimes be handy).
Room 5 is not the best if you value your privacy, as the only windows are the ones that everyone glances through each time the go to the bathrooms, which are just outside. Wooden houses can be noisy as people come and go but most of the guests seem to be pretty mindful of not making unreasonable noise.
The beds were comfortable and smelled nice, not like room deodorant.
There is a fully equipped, clean kitchen and ample room to spread out and eat your meal indoors or out. Washing is done at $10 per load (thanks!). All the common areas were clean and comfortable and there is a very pleasant garden where it's easy to find a private nook if you don't particularly want to socialise. All in all, I was really pleasantly surprised by this place and, despite a few inconveniences (room 5 and noisy wood), I would be happy to stay at Byron Springs again.

Byron Springs is an eight roomed B&B a couple of km's from the vibrant hustle and bustle of the town centre. The house is a lovely old weatherboard home remodeled to accommodate eight rooms of various configurations. We had a king with ensuite room which was very good value at A$95 including a continental breakfast in the open, airy and relaxed main lounge area.

About 2 or 3 km's from town, it is either 25-30 minute walk, a 10 minute cycle and the provided push bikes or a 5 minute drive. Easy access from the main roads, all the attractions of Byron Bay are close by. A little noisy during the Byron Bay peak hour but quite quiet at night. As others have mentioned, the rooms are a little noisy due to hollow walls, timber floors and narrow hallways. No major problem though unless you are a very light sleeper.

Rooms are comfortable if a little stark....a few more pictures, photos or imagery on the walls would break up the all white colour scheme. Beds were good and pillows ok (a little soft for me), ensuite bathroom was clean, modern and functional although no shower door meant the floor got very wet and slippery.

Breakfast was quite good with enough choices and options but be aware it is generally offered from 0830 if you need to move on early. Overall, Byron Springs is a very good option so long as you don't mind being a little bit outside the absolute heart of the town.

One of the best guest houses I have stayed in during my two months in Australia. Cheaper than some private rooms in hostels. Beautiful house in a lovely residential location. Only 20 min walk to town or free use of bikes. The owner Peter will also give you a lift when he is going into town and often makes a special journey for you. Peter is a real gentleman and Charlotte who is the manager is also very helpful and friendly. Young Grace who does housekeeping is a real joy and loves to let you know what's on and where
After 3 days here and a bar b q with other guests one evening, I felt truly refreshed and ready to go on my travels again. l will definitely return if I am lucky enough to return to Australia in the future.
Hoping you read this, thanks again to you all for a memorable stay, Christine.
