My husband and I stopped here for lunch because it was right on the beach, we ended up having lunch & 2 breakfasts. The view was amazing. The staff very friendly and very helpful. And the food.... Oh my goodness the food was absolutely amazing. We both had the barramundi burger with coleslaw and bean sprouts.. Yum! For breakfast I had Local Spanner Crab Omelette, it had a bit of an asian influence.. This was to die for!! My husband had poached eggs and, for a different spin, fried ham. He said it was delicious. The second breakfast i had Big Vegetarian Breakfast, roast tomato, herb & cheddar rosti, field mushrooms, avocado, baby spinach and poached eggs on toast. Again WOW. All servings were a generous size. Had a couple of really well made cocktails. Their coffee was a 9.5 out of 10. Well done Fishheads you have it all!!

We had breakfast at Fishheads. We were earlier, so our seat was beach front and beautiful. Long story short, the service was slow and inattentive. It took us about 45 mins to get a breakfast sandwich and scrambled eggs. HOWEVER, the food was absolutely fabulous! Totally worth the wait! I wasn't even annoyed after receiving it! Definitely worth a visit, but go at off times because the cue gets long quickly! P.S. there are also gluten-free options :-)

We arrived a little late for lunch in Byron Bay so went to the sea front, looked around and chose Fisheads for its location and it "looked right" - Well, "never judge a book by its cover" are wise words of wisdom.

The lunch rush had passed and I gather this place buzzes at peak times so we felt we would soon be eating. Quite a time passed before we got menus as staff seemed rushed of their feet trying to clear mountains of plates and glasses off tables and "vanishing".
Having studied the menus, we approached the counter to order and were told by one of the chefs someone would be there shortly to take our order. Sure enough, the chef made sure someone did come to take our order fairly swiftly.
We ordered our drinks and food. Drinks came promptly and the food took a while but arrived in a decent time. All except one meal that is. Everyone ate their lunch and finally we asked if the 6th meal was on its way. A short sharp discussion between the waitress and the chef ensued, a little swearing by the chef and a protest by the waitress meant that the meal came as the 5 of us had all finished. We took it in good heart and sadly you just get used to it only too often in restaurants these days that have enough customers and revenue in great holiday locations and that means they can afford to be sloppy.

The food was OK and if we are honest, not memorable despite ordering some nice seafood items. One round of drinks was all we had as we were determined not to beg for more. We think everyone was tired as it was the Easter holiday weekend and they had obviously been full and busy. Our waiter changed over as the first one (waitress) had left and that is why the service was most likely quite poor.
A friend of the waiter popped in, and they were obviously pleased to see each other as they had a 10-15 minute chat at the bar and then at a table which killed any service we may have been due. No rush to go back here or recommend it - unless you make friends with a waiter! There is choice in town and hopefully next time we might be in Byron Bay, we will choose the restaurant on a bit more than its looks and location!

We went here one morning just to get a coffee. It wasn't very busy. We kept waiting and waiting and noticed that other people that had come in after us were getting their coffee's before us. I went up and asked where our coffee was and after about 5 minutes the staff member came back with our coffees with not even an apology for the coffee's taking so long. (They took over 15 mins).

We decided to eat an early dinner and plopped ourselves at the fishheads out of tiredness from traveling. Wow were we happy with our decision. People watching was great. we had a table behind the wind screen and watched to our hearts content. The fish was done perfectly and the local veggies were dressed with a lemon olive oil dressing that brought out their flavor. Great dinner
