We stayed here for a week as our central base for visiting the beaches and surrounding hinterland and what can I say except this must be Byron Bay's best B&B!

The bedroom was very spacious; the fixtures and fittings were high quality and extremely modern with the cleanliness being first-class.

Without doubt, the staff really try hard to ensure that your stay is memorable for all the right reasons and the gourmet breakfast was fabulous; no lunch required!

The Summerhouse is just like the web site pictures... luxury and style and we just want to go back! Definitely recommend!

The Summerhouse is an architect-designed, Moroccan inspired villa that is spectacular and luxurious. A stay here is a chance to indulge!

Our spacious room was light and airy and included a Plasma television, CD, DVD player, private en suite and secluded balcony. The low, king-size bed was very good with quality linens and plenty of cushions.

Although Byron Bay is filled with restaurants, chances are you won't want to leave the spacious living area, outdoor deck and pool; the biggest decision you will need to make is which lounges to occupy as you marvel at the sensational and uninterrupted view sweeping from Brunswick Heads to the north and Broken Head to the south!

A boutique retreat with style and indulgence in a magnificent setting that's hard to beat.

We have just returned from a special birthday weekend at The Summerhouse Byron Bay.
We had been really looking forward to a weekend away in one of our favourite areas around Byron. We had researched our accomodation and came up with The Summerhouse. We had printed a mud map from the website and it gave the impression that the property was on a secluded road, but after following this map we ended up at the property and realised that we were on the Bangalow/Byron road. This is the main road to and from Byron, so it was very noisy and not at all secluded as indicated.

This accomodation is rated as 5 star and the rates are around $300 per night. For that tariff we had a reasonable room with a king bed that had been dressed neatly. The room itself had nowhere for us to put our luggage other than a small table and a glass topped bench where there was a mirror and television. The first thing that I noticed when I entered the room was the large clumps of dust/dirt on the ceiling fan and was concerned that if it was turned on the stuff would fly off everywhere.

As we had organised for two massage treatments we had to actually put a club chair and the small table out on the balcony as our therapist didn't have room to set up the massage bench.
We were given no directions on how to operate the television and set top box and it took around half an hour to get the system working.

The bathroom was inconvenient in that there was no screen around the shower and the water splashed over the vanity and toilet suite and toilet paper.

But the most unusual thing that we came across was when we arrived we were told by the host that there is no-one that stays on the property so if there were any problems to give them a call?
When we needed extra towels (from soaking up the water all over everything) and soap we had to wait until the next morning for someone to turn up.

As we were leaving to go into to town for a meal one night a very unpleasant smell (maybe the sewerage) that greeted us at the front door and was still there when we came home.

One morning at breakfast one of the other guests asked our host for a lighter, which was handed over with no hesitation and the guest then sat by the pool a couple of metres away from the other guests having breakfast and then lights up much to the disgust of ourselves and another couple.

Very disappointing
