Description: Simple, honest, real food made with love - Authentic italian artisan pizza, delicious house made salads, authentic Italian gelato + Superb organic coffee Here at Il Buco we work really hard to source only the best ingredients. It is our philosophy to try & stay as local and as seasonal as possible with our produce. We want to support our local farmers & businesses. So our ham is from Bangalow Sweet Pork, our salumi is from the boys at Salumi, our fresh fruit & vegetables are mostly sourced from local farmers including Coopers Shoot Tomatoes & where we need to use imported produce we try to support local distributors to cut down on our fuel emissions! So please enjoy your food knowing that we have made every effort to source the best & most yummy local ingredients that are in season!

This was our second visit to Il Buco and we certainly weren't disappointed! They have added some new dishes, including a fabulous slow-cooked ox cheek baked pasta dish! So warming, with so much flavour and served with focaccia and salad......just amazing! We then shared a chai spiced pannacotta, which was so delicious we had to go back for a second one! We'll definitely be back to try some of the other new dishes!

We had read some reviews about this little pizzeria and ended up going twice during our time at Byron. It's tucked away down Bay Lane but it's an absolute gem. It's menu isn't huge (thankfully) so they concentrate on great calzone and pizzas. Fresh, crisp bases with fabulous toppings and don't miss out on the great side salads that are on offer as well. The chef knows how to make a great pizza and the owner is more than happy to have a chat and spend some time with his customers. I wish we'd have left room for the desserts which are made by his wife, as they looked delicious. Again, not over the top extensive but what was there looked fabulous. The meal was very reasonably priced and there's a bottle shop just steps away if you forget to BYO. This place is a gem.

Stumbled across Il Buco when navigating the lanes in Byron looking for our restaurant. A waiter was standing out on the lane with a pizza board offering samples of Proscuitto Funghi. Hadnt planned on eating pizza and don't like to spoil an appetite. This delicious morsel took an edge off a hunger built over a 3 k ocean swim and walk.
That split second decision changed our evening. We found our restaurant had messed up our reservation and was full. Long waits at other restaurants we visited built an increasing disappointment and frustration among the six of us. My thoughts returned to that tasty pizza and suddenly the idea of a bottle of vino, some take away pizza and a home made salad and eating out on the deck at the house seemed very appealing.
Il Buco didnt disappoint. Exceptional vegetarian pizza. A respectable mozzarella tomato (oddly called Marinara - but nothing to do with seafood), good salame inferno (yes it is HOT), Quattro Stagioni provided the backbone to a delicious dinner.
Bottles of vino from the local on the corner, a fresh salad tossed from bought leaves and tomatoes found at the farmers market completed the meal. Salvaged some fresh figs and ricotta for a sweet finish.
A disappointment finished up as a perfect evening. Thanks Il Buco for tempting the taste buds with your samples on the street.
Simply delicious.

Great little pizzeria in Byron Bay where they make the simple real Italian pizza, very good value for money . Very friendly owner, we surely will go back and try other things.

The space is a little cramped, but then again so is everywhere in Bay Lane. However, provided you can squeeze into a spot big enough to fit a pizza, you'll be happy! Excellent, authentic Italian pizza. New favourite pizza joint in Byron.
