Well worth seeking these out and taking the time to walk around the caves and soak up the atmosphere and cultural significance of the site for the local indigenous population.

The caves are a brilliant natural wonder which will delight both cultural enthusiasts and geologists alike. Featuring ancient aboriginal carvings in the rocks, the great sandstone cliffs and caves boast wonderful colourings and water carved sculpture in the middle of the forest. The turn off the Newell Highway is not clearly marked, so be sure to use a GPS to find your way to the caves.

Interesting caves a short walk from the car park. Go early morning or late afternoon, and take a break half way round the cave circuit to enjoy the views!

We only became aware of this small gem whilst staying in the area. Make sure you get some information in advance to find the turnoff as it is not obvious and comes straight off the busy highway. There is a short dirt road in to the parking area. Self guided walks are available but you may want to consider a ranger guided tour that has to be pre booked:

The walk is easy and includes the caves with some Aboriginal rock carvings (protected by metal grills sadly). There are also good views of the surrounding country. Glad we made the effort to stop and have a look.
