Obviously a new hotel as room was very fresh and clean. Very comfortable bed and had a really good nights sleep. Love the kitchenettes, but unfortunately no equipment to go with it. Wasn't given much info when we arrived, apart from the owner telling us the restaurant would be open for dinner. No breakfast available, that we were told about, and the hotel info folder in the room was pretty much useless. Ended up having breakfast in a little café in town.

fantastic spa room ,new furniture and new renovations is the best thing about this motel,it really is comfortable.Unfortunately hay is a small town and the owners have very small town attitudes. To my shock and amazement ,I found myself having to explain why I was booking a spa room without a husband ,very weird. I had to educate the owners about, spas being a therapeutic aid and not a raging romantic interlude for two or three or maybe four what ever tickles your fancy hehehe. I would suggest enjoying the room and ignoring the staff. Oh and the pizza place in town has no eftpos so take cash :) Oh and p.s they turn every light !!!!! out at night when they go to sleep and you cant get out to your car cause its pitch black and possibly dangerous as you wouldn't see any body approaching with sinister intent.I think it may also be illegal to not have sufficient lighting around a motel for security reasons alone. ???

Room Tip: spa is the best.

Travelling from Sydney to Adelaide, Hay was the middle point of our drive so the logical place to stop. We had a look online at a few places and Bishops Lodge was not the cheapest nor the most expensive. In fact, we spent very little more than we would have done at the caravan park!
The motel was absolutely lovely, modern, clean and everything at hand. Melissa and staff were absolutely lovely, and to top it off, the meal in the restaurant was top quality. Highly recommended as the outstanding stop in Hay by a country mile.

Stopped over here when heading back to WA. Had a twin room for the family, was plenty of room and very clean and quite.

Meals for dinner at the restaurant was terrific one of the nicest we have ever had.

Room Tip: Twin rooms are at the back go the complex so you don't hear any traffic on the main road.

My partner and I stayed here on Sun 10/3/14. It is on the highway 1km or so before the town. We were driving Sydney to Adelaide and this is a good half way point. It was quiet being a sunday but the rooms were comfy, clean, staff friendly, and hassell free, the light blocking curtains were good. We had a room opposite the road but it didnt keep us up, after 8 hours of driving we had no probs sleeping. Would of been nice to try the restaurant but it was closed for the night but overall very good

Room Tip: Eating options in Hay are pretty dismal so eat at the restaurant if possible.

While a very fascinating & historic area, the Hay Plains are very flat and extensive. February temperatures can be high and Hay is pretty well at the end of a days drive from Adelaide, east. We arrived late afternoon and had some time to check out the accomodation with the most highly rated full.
Bishop's Lodge was not our first choice because it faces the highway but looked so obviously clean and new we decided to take a punt. The rooms are very modern, spotlessly clean and very good value. The road noise was minor and the beds delightful.
We chose to try out the highly rated food spot but it was closed that day. We tried a couple of pubs which seemed OK but not what we were looking for. We ended back at the Bishop's Lodge. What a very pleasant surprise the meals were. Certainly one of 2 highlight meals on this trip. I thoroughly recommend this motel if ever visiting Hay, for the food alone if that be your reason.

Room Tip: I think it probably deserves No 1 spot for Hay.

We were travelling from Adelaide to Brisbane and decided on Hay as our stop over that night. We booked Bishops Lodge and were not disappointed. Lovely welcome upon arrival and the room was spotlessly clean, modern and comfortable. The bed was also very comfortable.
We really enjoyed the dining room for dinner. The food was delicious - vegetables fresh and cooked to perfection - meat very tender and full of flavour. As we were leaving early we did not have breakfast.
Even though we had a room facing the highway, it did not prove to be too noisy thankfully. The property could do with some more landscaping however I think the area has some tough temperatures to deal with. All in all, a great spot for a stop over for us.
