A quick takeaway fish and chips dinner after a day of exploring the Bay.

Service was friendly and my order ready quite quickly for a busy Saturday night. I'm not quite sure about the 'world famous tag', i found my fish and chips to be of near average quiality (fish mostly) though still edible. It just didn't have that coastal delight that i had been hoping for from a fish and chip shop by the bay.

I conceed this may have just been an off night so would give it another go when next in the area and wanting fish and chips.

What's happened?
I ate here last year & the food was delicious!
Ordered the same meal (Calamari & Chips) this time 'round & it didn't even compare.
My chips definitely weren't homemade, they were frozen.
New owners, perhaps?

My husband had calamari and home made chips, he said they were the best chips he had had in years. Recommend a meal there for anyone other than a vegetarian like me !!!!!

Okay, the price wasn't too bad on face value, but when you ended up throwing out the lot (or throwing up if you ate it) it was an expensive bin filling exercise. Okay, it was Good Friday, so given you're the only fish and chip shop available to tourists, you have a captive market. The wait was over an hour, but again, that was to be expected. The quality of the food was a let down. Whether it is typically always so bad, or they couldn't cope with the demand is uncertain. I wonder if making the fish pieces look generous in size by coating in the thickest batter I've ever seen was a way of stretching out their supplies.

It all looked pleasant enough as you opened the paper covered card board box. Pleasant ended there. The bottom of the box glistened with seeping oil and could barely hold it's shape. As you bit into a piece of fish, you felt warm oil trickling down your chin and fingers. Then you found yourself wondering if there even was a piece of fish hidden inside the fried batter. Turned out there was, it was just very small, very slimy and well hidden. As for trying to guess what species it was, the piece was too small to make any judgement.

The chips weren't too bad though.

Good, fresh fish. The chips weren't homemade like the signs promised but were still tasty. Fantastic calamari. Worth a visit if you're looking for tasty fish and chips around the Huskisson area.
