Quiet little restaurant on a side street. Meal selections from just about any Mediterranean country. Meals are very well-made with fresh ingredients and delicious seasonings. Vegetarian and vegan choices as well as poultry, seafood, beef, and lamb. I chose Pasta Florentine, a mildly seasoned blend of pasta, spinach, feta and parmesan- outstanding! My husband chose the Stuffed Pepper, and he raved about the tomato sauce on the pepper. Soup, a unique and delicious tomato-vegetable, and dessert were included, as well as 3 vegetable side servings. The price was very reasonable-- under $30. BYOB. The server was attentive without being intrusive. We found every aspect of the meal to be first-rate. Highly recommended.

I've been here twice now and most recently just a few days ago. I remember really enjoying the quality and variety of the food. I also remember we were able to order lots of small dishes to try several things. This time, while we didn't order the same quantity of dishes, we still enjoyed everything we got. The friend perogies and spinach pie were delicious. As a vegetarian, I ordered eggplant with falafel in it which was so unique and delicious. The tahini and hummus were also great. The house salad was eh so I would not bother with that. The desserts were also good. The food is a mix of Jewish, Italian, and Middle Eastern so you can find something for everyone here. Don't let the unappealing decor turn you off; the food makes up for it!

Have dined here several times because hubby loves the hummus, which is yummy. The first time, the food was really good, homemade and hearty (lamb shank and shish kabob, both great). On subsequent visits (three separate), the food was not consistently as good. We took parent there and she had hot tea. The cups are very small and when she requested a refill, hot water, but no teabag was brought. A second refill... no teabag. Finally my husband had to request a second teabag for the third cup of hot water. It was grudgingly brought.
We have decided to take a sabbatical from La Pergola for a while, we have been disappointed on the last three visits and the prices are not that good to make us go back and take a chance. They do have some items that are not easy to find in the nearby Philly burbs, but the overall experience has been disappointing on more than one occasion.

It's not often you find a place that has good food and wide selection of vegetarian options. Combine that with great prices and you have a wonderful place to take your family for lunch or dinner. The restaurant specializes in Middle Eastern/Mediterranean fare. Prices are around $15.00 for entrees. Dinner for a family of 5 was under $100.00 including four deserts and four cups of coffee. There are not many places where the herbivore and the carnivore can both have a good meal. The portions are a little on the large size and three of the five had lunch for the next day with the left overs.
