“Wonderful stay”
Reviewed 30 March 2014

Stayed at Ebbtide for 8 days and Julie and Emma couldn't have done anymore to make our stay better! A little out of the way over a big hill that the bikes struggled with, but once there it was so quiet and peaceful with no TV noise. Hardly aware of other guests. We had end unit (3) which was even more private. Lovely view of the garden. Your own wood BBQ. Easy walk to lovely neds beach. Julie has a great library of books so no need to bring any. Snorkel and goggles, backpacks, beach towels, all free and she keeps beer and wine in a fridge which you can help yourself to - an honour system. Just write down what you take and pay at the end. We had a great time and would highly recommend both ebbtide and lord howe island.

Thank you for taking the time to review Ebbtide and your Lord Howe holiday.
I'm pleased you were happy with the amenities provided on the property, Ebbtide is now only 1 of 2 accommodation providers that have chosen not to include TVs on the property as so many of our guests appreciate the enhanced peace and quite that is now so hard to find in every day life!

Stayed for 2 weeks in the superior unit March 2014. Although at the end of a drought period, with tank water very low, Julie and Emma do everything possible to make your stay comfortable. The grounds are spacious, and the unit free standing, with a view over the Admiralty Islands...although you do have to look over the top of a tank. Good verandah...basic kitchen but works....good bed...but would be nice to have a microwave. Wood BBQ is a bit challenging for those that come from bushfire zones....maybe a communal gas BBQ might be good. But be realistic..LHI has to get everything from the mainland..mostly by a 2 weekly ship visit, and augmented by occasional air delivery. So you need to go with the flow...but it's worth it! LHI is drop dead gorgeous....can lay claim to being the most spectacular scenery in the South Pacific. We would recommend Ebbtide as a very welcoming self catering facility with excellent hosts.....and as for LHI itself.....not to be missed in your travel CV. And one extra...Qantaslink provides a Dash 8 service...always interesting...but very high quality service. From check in to landing...well done!

Thankfully we have had some rain! The Island relies on rainfall as the primary water supply, each property having it's own tanks for water collection.
Thank you for reviewing Ebbtide!

We only stayed for one night after checking out of the Somerset apartments because of a mistake we had made with dates.
Ebbtide is a little out of the way but was a very pleasant experience. At over $300 per night we did not find it as good a value as Somerset apartments but the rooms were bigger and decorated very nicely. It had a great kitchen area and no TV (we liked that fact). The bedroom was huge and had a double bed and a single bed. The bed was very comfortable.
I wasted a lot of time trying to connect to the wifi for work - Julie was going to reset it but it never came good.
The laundry/transit room was not signposted and I walked past it as someone was sitting on the porch reading and I assumed it was their cabin. Likewise, the office was difficult to find.
Although Ebbtide is out of the way you can get a lift to any restaurant at night and the restaurant then drops you back at your accomodation. You can also get around the island on bikes but unless you are super fit you will be pushing the bike uphill to home. We had one of the handful of hire cars on the island so location was not an issue.
We loved Lord Howe, and Ebbtibe was a lovely way to end our stay.

We loved everything about LHI and Ebbtide. Emma & Julie did a great job of taking care of us. The apartments were well appointed and very clean. There was a "transit" room where we could borrow backpacks, snorkeling gear, books, sunscreen, bug spay, etc. Washer/dryer were available too. There was an honor system for wine & beer and their prices were very reasonable.

The walk down to Ned's Beach from Ebbtide is not to be missed. The grounds are beautiful too.

We will definitely be back. Thanks Emma & Julie!

We stayed for a week in January and found Ebbtide to be an excellent base on Lord Howe. It is a 10-15min walk into town or 5-10 mins to Neds Beach. Our apartment was one of three joined together, yet the clever layout meant we never heard our neighbours at all and the only noise at night is that of the mutton birds! Julie and Emma are great hosts and very helpful and knowledgeable. Free wifi was a great bonus as was the provision of reef shoes, snorkels, fins etc at no cost. The apartment had a separate cooking area, balcony, outside seating area and BBQ. The gardens are beautifully kept and house nesting terns as well as providing fresh bananas. Whilst the price may initially seem expensive when compared to the mainland, it is very good value for money indeed in comparison with other accommodation on the island. We would happily return.

Had an amazing two weeks at Ebbtide. Lovely gardens and a great location, only minutes walk from Ned's beach and right near Topshop. Clean, tidy and well equipped rooms with great decks. There is also a little veggie patch to help your self to. Overall, a fabulous stay!

We spent a very comfortable an peaceful week at ebbtide. Comfortable, clean and spacious room set in beautiful gardens. Short walk to Ned's beach and Topshop close by for supplies. Small hill didn't bother us but would be a pain if you had very young children.beer and soft drinks available as well as frozen fish - BBQ outside the room was good. Would stay again for sure
